What form of payment do you use for everyday things?

The whole questioning thing is on the Walmart machine -- doesn't yours do that? It really annoys me! "Did your cashier greet you?" "Did your cashier smile?" "Was your cashier friendly?" "Did you find everything you need?" AHHH! Just leave me alone to pay!

I rarely shop at WalMart, so they may have been doing that for a while here, but I just noticed it the other day.I love the way WalMart thinks they have the right to use my time answering their questions. Much like their self service registers...if I wanted to be a cashier, I'd get paid for it. They want to know what I think...give me something for my time. Otherwise, buzz off!

But, you can skip all those stupid questions. I just swiped my card while the cashier was ringing up my stuff and all those annoying questions went away. You don't really even have to sign your name on the machine...just drawing a line will do it.

I actually use my school id for most things. It has money on it like a debit card, and it's accepted almost everywhere around campus. Since I already have it in my pocket anytime I leave my apartment, it's easier to just use that instead of taking a purse somewhere if I don't have to.

The lady in front of me at the grocery store took FOUR MINUTES to write her check - yes I timed it. I think she also balanced her checkbook before she handed the check over to the cashier.

And no I didn't give her any dirty looks. It was actually kind of funny how she seemed to go into slow motion at the checkout. We'd been shopping in the same aisles through the store. She was not incapacitated or slow in shopping or making decisions. We'd even chatted over the produce.

Thank goodness I am a patient person. That four minutes didn't kill me. But it would bother me if I were the person holding things up.

Totally a credit card person here. I almost never write a check. Even for graduation presents I do the electronic check thing thru my brokerage account.

Debit or cash. I hate check writers. As a cashier I saw it was quite rare that they had any portion of the check filled out before you gave them the total. 1/2 the time they would start digging for the check book after the total. So annoying.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart ever so I've never had any additional questions. I also run my debit as credit when possible so I don't have to bother with the pin or cash back screens.

Oh and there are both a Cash and Check version of the VISA commercial

We've been using our debit card for EVERYTHING, but I think we're going to start using the Starwood Amex like it was a debit card. We'll see how it goes.

Debit card for almost everything, I do feel silly using it for like $2.00, but oh well.
I did try to use the CC for the points, but alas, it got away from us and we don't pay it off every month.
There I said it-I am the only person in the world carrying a CC balance!

That said, the card we carry a balance on is 0% interest, so we never pay interest.

I still use the CC, but not for grocery shopping or essentials like that.

We started using our Disney Visa a few months ago for everything. We used to use our debit for everything and Visa for backup but then when it came time for Visa to be due, the bank acct was empty. It seems like we are at least building up our bank account a bit more this way, and snagging a bunch of Disney Reward Dollars!

We use the debit card most of the time. Usually the only check I write each month is for rent. It takes us forever to go through a box of checks.

I use mainly cash, occassionally my debit card. I make a good bit in tips so it just works out that I always have cash on hand.

We used to use our debit card, then decided to switch to a rewards credit card that we pay off every month instead. Already made almost $200 in cash back in less than a year - free money. Can't beat it.
