I want to bring my own Peanut Butter & jelly sandwhiches for the kids, maybe a few "subs"for us adults... is this allowed, or will I be stopped at the gate? Help!

Hi violet!

Unfortunately NO food is ALLOWED (except if you have a medical need, etc). But you will not be stopped at the gates to get rid of anything that you have.

Hope that this helps...

:)

Violet, Beth is correct tech. no outside food is allowed into MK, but everybody brings snacks and small sadwiches in their backpacks. DW has never been stoped or even checked for that matter, but with 9/11 and the searching of bags, I don't think I would want a security guard to see a backpack full of snacks.

Either way, have a great trip.

Hi, we just returned on 4/1 and we brought a couple of juices and things like pop-tarts, crackers etc. into the parks in my bag. We were never questioned by the bag checkers about the food, they just looked inside and said o.k. So I don't think you'll have a big problem with a couple of pb&j sandwiches. I think that they don't want people bringing coolers into the park. Oh, also speaking of coolers, I believe that when we went to TL they were not allowing coolers in anymore. I'm not sure if this is new or if it's even permanent, but just thought I'd let everyone know anyway. It probably has to do with the security checks, it's less stuff for them to have to look through.
Have fun!!!!
Wish we were going back already.:p

We have always taken snacks in with us, including a couple sandwiches. ;)
I usually carry a back pack with a couple water bottles and throw in some crackers and pieces of fruit. We usually have sandwiches at the room (sometimes we will rent a frig or just use a cooler), and many times will take the sandwiches with us.
Even after 9-11 and they started searching everyone's bags, no one has ever said anything about not bringing food in.
:D

We were at DL over Christmas and brought in water, soda and snacks. Cans of pringles, pretzels, etc. No problem at all.

I just got back this morning and I did bring food into the parks. I have a soft collapsable cooler that I took and hung on the back of the stroller. They inspected it and even made a joke about how they were gonna follow me around the parks since I had such good stuff!!! I brought subs, fruit, drink boxes, chips and bottled water. I brought it to MK, AK, MGM, TL and to Universal Studios. No problems at all!!!

I also brought my same cooler to Typhoon Lagoon and they have a box that your cooler must be able to fit into. It was 10" by 10". My cooler fit perfectly, so I was allowed to take it in!!! I had really good luck that day! If any one is interested it is an Artic Zone brand and I believe I bought it at Target or KMart.

I believe that only foods that are "officially" allowed in the parks are baby food and those foods that are required for medical reasons. But as others have stated, I have never heard of anyone being "kicked out" or told they could not enter if they brought food with them.

I bring snacks and water in with us when we go to Disneyland and have never had a problem. I have never tried to bring "a picnic lunch" or anything but crackers, granola bars, etc.

We just returned yesterday and I bought in a soft sided cooler into the parks with me everyday with juice boxes, water, yogurt and PBJ sandwiches for my youngest who is very picky. Yes, security looks through it but they never said anything about it. I also saw alot of people with coolers in the parks, not only soft sided one but the big hard coolers. I don't think I would want to carry around a big hard cooler all day, I just put my cooler in the bottom of the stroller.

Ditto to what the people above said. We go to Disney several times a month and ALWAYS bring in sodas, and snacks quite often too. The only comments the security has ever said was, Gee, this makes me hungry, can I have some?
At MGM a few months ago, we saw a family of about 8 unpack a whole picnic lunch over by Pizza Planet. I don't know that I'd have the nerve to do that, but they obviously had no problems with it! :)

We were in the bag check line at the Magic Kingdom on 4/3 and had to wait for some time as the family in front of us fit all their lunch and ice back into their overflowing cooler after it was searched. Security didn't say anything to them, but I wouldn't have wanted to be the one tying up the table trying to get all that stuff back into the cooler while all those in line watched. Maybe Ice packs or little bags of ice and a less full cooler would be better. This tells me you can pretty much bring in whatever you want.

Recently returned from our Disney trip and spotted a guard dumping the contents of a thermos. It belonged to an older couple and they didn't look happy. Water , juice boxes, sandwiches, bagged or canned snacks didn't seem to be a problem.

We just got back Friday and we took in 2 bags of goodies everyday and every park. From sandwiches to frozen water. They looked in the bags and they would always say have any goodies for me, and laugh. We rented a stroller every day for our bags. There were 2 families and when we were hungry we would go to a table and eat. No one at all said anything. Everyone was doing this.

karyn.....I think that "packaged" foods or sandwiches is okay, but any kind of thermos would be a BIG NO-NO.
Probably for fear there was some type of alcohol in it.
You run into the same thing at alot of ballparks and places.;)

When we were in the parks last month, we took in snacks, and we have a hydration flask in our back pack that nobody gave us a hard time about. I did notice if someone gave the security guard a hard time about going through the bags, they were very thorough. I happened to be behind a very unpleasant woman, and they took everything out of her back pack, camer bag, another bag. Then I came up, already had my camera bag and back pack open, they guard just looked in, said thanks a lot for waiting your all set. So have your bags ready and open, moves a lot faster.
