i am trying to save. what meals do you have in your room or sancks. how do you get it to your room example bring it on the plane.

If we drive we bring quite a bit of food for breakfast and snacks. Cereal, breakfast bars, chips, cookies, Popcorn, juice, soda, water, crackers w/ cheese and bagels.
When we fly we usually rent a car and stop for groceries on the way to the hotel. Milk, cream cheese, fruit.
We have one of those collapsible coolers that works pretty good, so that fits in the suitcase when we stay at the values.

I like little bags of peanuts (but not for the plane because of other peoples' allergies).

the kids sometimes like cheese crackers, sometimes they don't. Granola bars. fig newtons for DH. Pretzels & cheerios for the little one. If we bring the cooler to the park I'll bring cheese. My kids also like baby carrots. We freeze juice boxes and water.

We travel with a lot of zip loc bags!!

Last trip we shipped a box of food to our hotel. It was there when we arrived. Do a search here on the Dis and you will find lots of info on shipping boxes to your resort.

Anyhow, for portable food ideas (non-refrigeration)... those tuna kits (tuna, crackers, mayo) are great, peanut butter and crackers, granola bars, bagels, pretzels, popcorn, apples, bananas.

If you have a fridge or cooler you could add.... cheese/cheese sticks, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, carrots and dip.

Hi!

We always plan to bring as much as we can so we won't have to spend too much on food. But this year I heard of wegoshop.com they will deliver to Disney Resorts and POR include fridges in the room :Pinkbounc . Now I can order ham, cheese, milk, fruit etc. I'm hoping to save even more on food! :cool1:

We shipped a box from Wilmington DE to OLD KEY WEST in January. It was a bit pricey because it was a big box and I had it packed full! We did have a slight problem claiming it at the resort, as it was not there when we arrived. My MIL brought a soft sided cooler packed full as her carry on on the plane. She had all kinds of goodies...lunch meat, cheeses, bacon, ground beef, condiments, etc. We were able to get into our room early and "make lunch". Also had lots of stuff to use for the week.

I was shocked at how much she fit in that cooler!!! Three cheers for Grandma!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I use a small duffel bag or small suitcase. My goal is to use all the snacks up before the trip is over and all souveniers go into that luggage. I also bring a tupperware pitcher to mix up koolaid and gatorade in the room. My 3 ds are teens so they are pretty specific on what they like. We never do breakfast and I only bring snacks, not meal type items. I bring granola bars, ritz bits, mini chips ahoy, mini oreos, nutrigrain breakfast bars, also I bring those mini fruit cups of peaches, wrapped in ziploc and then put into the pitcher in case they explode in the luggage, I am thinking of bringing underipe banannas this time too, maybe a box of donuts. We get a towncar and if we stay at the swan, I will ask for a stop at the hess mini mart to get a few packs of drinks , sodas I should say.

As I recall it cost me about $20... but it was a good sized box and it was packed full! I had put in juice boxes, peanut butter crackers, a jar of Goober grape (pb & j mix), a loaf of my son's wheat free bread, a box or two of chocolate rice milk (again for DS's allergies), granola bars, some Atkins friendly foods for DH. We used most everything during the week. The little bit we had left over we used for snacking on the way home (which worked out well, since we got delayed on our first leg and didn't have time for dinner during our layover!). It was definitely money well spent.

Since DH works for UPS he just checked how many days it would take from our Zip code to the hotel Zip code in Kissimmee. We allowed for a few extra days (because we were arriving on a Friday, if it didn't arrive that day, it wouldn't arrive until Monday... so we planned it to arrive Thursday). On the outside of the package I addressed it to ATTENTION FRONT DESK. I put our name and our hotel reservations dates and confirmation number on the outside of the box. I also called the hotel ahead to let them know to expect the package and that we would pick it up at the front desk. As it turned out, I was so tired when we arrived I forgot to ask for it... they actually reminded me that they had a package for me!

Like I said, if you do some searching here on the Dis (use the search function) you can find lots of threads where we talk about shipping packages ahead to hotels. It worked well for us.

There are also (as a previous poster mentioned) grocery shopping services available that will bring groceries to your resort for you. You may want to look into that..... GOOD LUCK......P

I get those bags of mini muffins, M&M's, PB/J and twizzlers. Krave bars, tuna packets, bagels, poptarts, trail mix, crackers, cereal, tonic water and popcorn. I pack the items in a seperate suitcase.

If I do a grocery stop I get water, soda, Toaster things scrambled eggs/bacon, dairy items. Get a loaf of bread...it makes sharing breakfasts at the foodcourts go a lot further!!!
