Is it a light show set to music over the water? Can anyone elaborate? Is it at a different time than the parades and fireworks? We'll have a friday and a saturday night, going in late october. Last time we went we skipped the shows and all that, which I totally regretted. WE ARE NOT MISSING STUFF THIS TIME!
Thanks.

Fantasmic shows at night, and does not conflict with the parades. It does conflict with the fireworks. Sometimes there is one showing, and sometimes two when DL expects bigger crowds. Every once in awhile there are three showings. If there are two showings, go to the second one if possible.

If you want to also see the fireworks, then read this: "HydroGuy's Fireworks Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199851

What is Fantasmic??? Only the most fantasmic event at Disneyland!

But seriously, it's a must do. You're partially correct that it is a lights & water show. But it is also a live play of sorts with characters, music, pyrotechnics, and fireworks.

Personally I think Disney did a great job with it. It starts out with Sorcerer Mickey and the show progresses as a journey through Mickey's imagination. Through the show he is joined by friends and foes... you must see it!

It's a live action show, with water, light, pyro and laser elements, but first and foremost, it is live action (yes, there are sections of animation, but I consider these filler to set up the next scenes). And, yes, it's a must see. DLR's live entertainment is in a class by itself when it comes to amusement parks.

I'm glad you asked, because I was wondering the same thing. I read up a little on it too. I don't think we will understand, entirely what it is until we actually go.

I am considering buying seats to watch the show since we have small children. It wouldn't be practical for us to stake out good spots for the viewing hours before the show started. I didn't even know about Fantasmic until this trip. I think my boys will enjoy it.

For my wife and I Fantasmic was one of the highlights of our trip. Only because, as we watched we were able to look over at our children and see how wide their eyes were and how excited they were watching the show. It was one of those moments as a parent you will never forget.

I really recommend seeing it even if you have to stake out a spot for over an hour.

I have to say as some one who isn't that into shows, this one is one not to miss! I have to say I love the new fireworks show too but I would skip that even to see Fantasmic. The use of all the effects, water, live action and all really creates a very unique experience.

I remember when we used to stake out our spots 3 hrs ahead of time...lol

I haven't sat and watched Fantasmic! in ages (but I can still do the sorcerer mickey dance for you...;) ). I listen to the soundtrack when I need a pick me up...yes, I am a dork...:thumbsup2

"What exactly is Fantasmic?"

As a cast member who lately has been working more Fantasmic shifts than my preferred Pirates shifts, that is the 3rd most common question I hear. The 1st being "where is the nearest restroom?" and the 2nd being "when does the show start?" Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to give. Especially to a person who asks the question while walking by in a horde of other guests. I think the reason it's difficult to answer is because I've personally never seen any other show like it. It involves live action characters, music, lights, lasers, pyrotechnics, animation clips projected onto screens made of water and both of the big boats, the Columbia and the Mark Twain.

And in my opinion, the best spot to watch the show is on the Pirates bridge. That's the bridge that goes over the entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Okay, now I want to do fantasmic too... we have a 3 year old... one who is brave, likes fireworks etc... I think I want to book seating though, so we can relax for the evening and not try to find a place to watch... plus I read if we do the balcony seating we can stay for the fireworks?? Do you think this will be running at the end of October?? If so, what time 9 pm?

Thanks!

Ok. You all totally sold me on this! :thumbsup2
I'm going late October... does it run year round? Ill be there two weekend days, a Friday and a Saturday so hopefully I can catch the fireworks AND this show. I always have a really hard time planning my trips. Just when I think I have it figured out I find out a tiny little detail that changes everything like dominos! ;)
