What's with the name changes of Dixie Landings and Port Orleans to Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside (or whatever they are called)??? Does anyone know the exact name changes of the old ones to the new ones? I stayed at both years ago and wouldn't even know which one I liked better, or which one to book, b/c of the name changes. I need some definite Disney expert to help me out on this one. Thanks ::MickeyMo

Port Orleans is now known as Port Orleans French Qaurter and the buildings look like you are in New Orleans...well sort of.
Dixie Landings is now known as Port Orleans Riverside and has half the buildings in Alligator Bayou that are country style homes and half the buldings that look like southern Mansions out od Gone with the Wind.
It is rumored that the name change was for PC reasons but Disney says it was because it was more efficient to merge the two together as one resort. They still have seperate check ins and food courts but the restaurant at the French Quarter sections, known as Bonfamille's, has closed.

Daannzz is right.

The resorts were merged into one. If you stay here, you're allowed to use the facilities of both of the resorts.

Former Port Orleans (now Port Orleans French Quarter), aside from the New Orleans feel, is a lot smaller, and feels a lot more cozy.

Former Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans Riverside) is more sprawling, and you can end up pretty far from the central dining/pool areas.

There's information and pictures of both resorts at:

I still believe the names were changed for PC reasons. ::yes::

Hi - I've been away for awhile and have a question - Port Orleans French Quarter is still closed, correct?

Yes. Port Orleans French Quarter is still closed. Some rumors have it opening in the next few months and some say not until the end of next year.
