First moon landing in 1969. Stayed up all night watching the coverage.

Big Apollo fan. Wanted to watch as much of it as I could.

Olympics, Indy 500. I really miss the big prime-time production they always made of the race. The whole family would sit down and watch together and we'd get to stay up until it was over. Being that we were watching it tape-delayed on the west coast it was bound to happen; one year the local news broke in with a tease announcing the winner in the commercial break before the race started. Grr! Now they just air it live and almost nobody cares if it's even on.

All the old Christmas specials, and things like the Wizard of Oz that were only on once a year. We always made a big deal out of that stuff. Now that it's all streaming, it's common but back then it was a big deal.
