We will be in California for 1 week this June, plan to spend 2 days at DL. Wondering what else is recommended in the area to do and see. Will be traveling with a 16 and 18 year old. Thanks.

I think it depends on what you're interested in and where you'll be. I'd personally aim for 3 days at DL, as I think DL takes 2 days to do well, and DCA takes one (especially when it's busy, like in the summer). Will you be going to San Diego? I love the zoo there, I'm not a huge fan of Sea World, though many people are. It's fun to go to the beach-maybe your kids would like to take surfing lessons. You can always head to Tijuana for a day for a very different experience than Disneyland :)

Well, for starters I would go to DL/ DCA at least 3 days during the summer. Two days during the busy time is just not enough! Other then that it depends on what you enjoy. Universal studios isnt too far away. There is a lot of beaches. San Deigo is a bit of a drive but offers Sea World, the Zoo and wild animal park. There is Legoland, but it geared toward younger kids. You could go to Hollywood. There is tons of stuff do to in S. CA!

Don't forget Knott's is very close to the DLR and have many moe extreme rides that your older kids might enjoy. You can often find specials on tickets by checking their web site.

we have another whole board devoted to that question :) , you can find it right below this one in the forum drop down box.

If you do decide to visit other attractions.. consider getting a city pass and it will save you a bit plus then you have tickets in hand ready to go!

We enjoyed a day at the beach. We loved Corona del Mar, very pretty area and easy for parking.

If your into shopping there are several malls in the area. Block at Orange was a fun experience.. outdoor mall is an oddity for a MN family.

Went to Hilo Hatties, Vans indoor skate park... very different for us.

Eat at CAFE-TU-TU-TANGO...entertainment nightly...lots of variety in food, so each person picks something then share with all!! Starving artists have their artwork on display all over the restaurant and it's all for sale...outdoor seating for people watching, but the shows are usually indoors...bar with great drinks for the older set...shows i've seen have been Tahitian dancers and Flamenco dancers for example always something different...they also have this restaurant at UNIVERSAL CITY WALK. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Depending on your interests, Knott's has unbelievable roller coasters (so scary I can't do them anymore!) Universal Studios is always fantastic. Sea World and San Diego Zoo is a drive but well worth it. There's always the beach too!

Knotts is a little run down, if you like really wild throwup type rides then you will enjoy it, otherwise give it a miss...

Soak City water park was excellent value, go online and search for the vouchers. we paid $27 per adult and $15 per child and if the weather is hot makes for a totally different day to DL. You can easily get there by bus if you don't have a car.

Also in Buena Park is Ripleys believe it or not and the Movieland waxworks you can get combo packages for both of these.

Block at Orange was the best shopping centre and easy to catch on the local bus.

Hope this helps

Adult ticket for Soak should have read $19, $27 was the normal price. At the time Carls Junior was having a promotion giving away the discount vouchers with every purchase,

I thought that the Movieland Wax Museum was closed now?

Definitely some beach time. As AZMickey said The Aquarium is fun. Maybe a baseball game, although if you want to do that, you should get tickets soon.I personally won't mind doing DL everyday of the 7 days. I get to take in more that way and there's no rushing. Catalina Island could also be fun, but I am not sure how the fire has affected it so far as tourism goes. Have a great time no matter what you decide!
