I have all the symptoms of being pregnant. I'm late, my breasts are swollen and tender, nauseous, exhausted, headaches, backaches, it's all there. I took 2 at home pregnancy tests that were inconclusive, the clinic today took a pregnancy (pee) test and it came up negative. They told me to come back in two weeks to take a second one.

So if I'm not pregnant, what could this be?

sounds like pg to me, to be honest. I'd make sure you were taking folic acid and all that jazz just in case, and go back and test. I had the same thing happen and had a week and a half of negative tests before I finally got a positive one, am guessing I ovulated way later than normal that month. I think I conceived the day before my period was due!

the only other thing I can think of offhand is when I drink a lot of caffeine, my breasts tend to be more tender before my period, and I tend not to sleep as well at night so I dont feel as well rested. any chance that could be the case?

hope it goes whichever way you would like it to!

Honestly, if you tested negative more than once, you are probably not pregnant. Those tests can give accurate results earlier than this. I didn't get pregnancy symptoms until after I tested positive. Your symptoms might be due to a late period.

do you have thyroid or other health issues? Your thyroid being off could affect your cycle. And the exhuastion could also be related

Sounds like thyroid or pregnancy. Since the pregnancy test came back negative and you have to wait 2 more weeks, have them draw for thyroid functions. The results are usually back in 72 hours or so.

well i know the new tests are more accurate but i never tested positive on a pee test-but a blood test came up positive-keep in mind this was a while ago-my youngest child is almost 21-but its something to think about.

With dd13, I tested a day late and it was negative, 2 days late and it was positive. With my last pregnancy, I tested a few days before I expected AF, and it turned dark right away. I imagine it's because the tests have become so more sensitive, and the fact that I was having twins.

Hormones or too much caffeine. No way I am pregnant but those are my symtoms when I have too much caffeine. Then again I am in premenopause. So right before I start I have so many symptoms it drives me bonkers.

I am trying to give up caffeine. I just bought a ton of club soda today for that fizzy fix.

I hope you get the answers you are looking for.:thumbsup2

Those can be PMS symptoms. Early pregnancy and PMS symptoms are often the same. Wait a couple of days and take another test. Waiting 2 weeks seems like an awfully long time. I'd say if AF doesn't show by Monday call the doctor and get a blood test to see what could be going on.

Thanks for the replies. My period is a week late. I don't drink caffiene. I too think waiting 2 weeks is an awfully long time. I guess it's time to call the doctor and get a few blood tests done.

I don't want to scare you, but I had all those symptoms, too, wasn't pregnant, I was prematurely menopausal. I was 36.

An etopic will show up as a positive pregnancy, I believe.

I went through an ectopic recently and yes it does show up positive. I did a few POAS and they were very light to indicate it was positive.

OP...I would defintely see if you can go for some blood work. Good luck!

Me too - I was 40. AF went from every 28 days to 35 days to missing altogether for 3 months! I took many HPT's, even though I had my tubes tied!:rotfl2:

I would.:thumbsup2

My sister also went thru early menopause at 37. She is still in it with awful symptoms. I have to wear a winter coat in her house so I don't freeze to death.:lmao:

I had a blood test at the doctor's office and it came back negative but then about 10 days later took a pregnancy test a day after my period was due and it was positive.

It certainly sounds like pregnancy symptoms to me.

I would abstain from alcohol etc until I got my period or a positive test! Good Luck!!!

Are you normally regular? I'm not - I maybe have 4-5 periods a year and I've always been that way. It made trying to conceive a trying experience. ;)

Anyway, I had been trying, missed my period, had all the symptoms of pregnancy and had several negative tests. A month later, still no period and the OB put my on Provera to start my period so we could continue on our conception journey. Still no period. Went in to the OB once again and he did a quick exam and looked over the table at me like .

Turns out I WAS pregnant - 13 and half weeks at that point. I was pregnant the entire time, even during the times I took the initial tests in his office. I was really happy that Provera didn't cause birth defects.:thumbsup2
