What DVC resorts DO NOT have flat screen TVs? Any left?

I stayed at Old ket west in April, Our room still had the old TV's

Mat5 is correct. We just left OKW this past Saturday, and the main TV and the one in the master was the old style.

Yes, but the major renovation planned for OKW has already started.

Part of the update is to include flat panel TVs. I think it is supposed to be completed by next Spring.

From DVCNews dot com:

The project is slated to include the following:

* New carpet
* Wood floors will be refinished
* New blinds and drapes
* Units will be repainted
* New upholstery on sofas and love seats
* Twin-size sleeper chair added to living room (one bedroom and larger)
* Granite counter tops
* New cabinet hardware
* Ceiling fans to be replaced
* New lamps in living room and master bedroom
* Current televisions replaced with flat panel units

The refurbishment is scheduled to begin sometime in the spring of 2010 and will run into spring 2011.

As of April, it looks like they have stated the refurb.

Here at SSR now. No flat screen in the 1100-1300 buildings.

They have one in the Lobby area, but, no clicker, so, no cartoon loop yet.

I was under the impression all the rooms at SSR still had tubes (except THV)? Is this in the process of changing or slated to change any time soon? It's kind of odd that a resort opened in 2004 didn't have them in the plans and now OKW a much older resort will have them and they won't. Replacing the TV's makes the rooms look a lot more "deluxe" IMHO.

As an owner, I'll answer no. Flat screens were still too expensive in '04, and I'm glad they are first fixing dining / pool issues at the resort (with the Paddock pool expansion) before spending my money on flat screens.

I might want flat screens more if I knew if Disney could provide all the channels in HD, until then, I do not want to pay more to watch fat people with a lot of static(which happens when you stretch out old-school analog channels)

Does this mean that it will be officially for 5 in a 1br and 9 in a 2br?

considering the channels available are so limited at Disney, I have never understood the desire for flat screens. :confused3

Maybe I am weird but when you pay Four Seasons prices to stay as a cash guest I would expect the TV's to be the newest technology. Meaning, true deluxe resorts have these amenities and that is what they tout the DVC locations to be. Whenever possible I prefer to stay at the Four Seasons, TheHotel, Belagio, The Ritz and other swank hotels and I have shelled out lots of cash to do so. That's why I am interested in DVC I don't see myself staying at POP (nothing against it just when I vacation I want to go luxury).

Good point though about the analog strechies....HA HA HA. I totally forget about that b/c we are high-def addicted. DH just informed me he can't go to WDW during FB season if he has to watch the game on a tube with no high-def. I say he can go to a bar. :)

I think they are nice when the furniture is designed for them - you get lots more usable space in a studio.

are you going to stay in the 4 seasons once it is finished or stick with DVC?

To be honest I didn't know about the Four Seasons opening (on site). We always stay at the FS in Jackson Hole. It looks like it has been pushed back two years already, I wonder when it will really open? I don't have a DVC membership yet I am trying to work on that :thumbsup2. I am the Disney freak DH is uh..."humoring me." However, we have one 16 month old son and a daughter on the way so he sees why I think this would be a good idea. I know I would love to stay at the FS there, however, I could get more trips in with DVC because I can say, "look we need to use our points," versus "the kids (I) want to go to DIS again and not -fill in the blank-."

Back to the TV point though, the fact that SSR doesn't have flats wouldn't prevent me from buying. I just think in nice resorts these days that's what you expect. I am sure they are going to be replaced some time in the next 3 years.

I do wish Disney would upgrade the channels. I was sick one day last fall. Didn't leave the room for a whole day and two nights, there is only so much of Disney's must do things that I can watch. I realize they don't want us staying in the room, but there are times it just can't be helped.

Not weird but at the hotels you mentioned you will also have access to HDTV and many channels to select from, you are not going to get that from Disney.

Also you are never going to get the amenities at Disney and especially DVC that any hotel such as Four Seasons offers.

SSR does not have flat panels yet, but their TV's were not "very old" either.

OKW had the "very old" televisions as did BWV and VWL. They were small, like 19 inch in the master.

SSR televisions are "flat screen" and digital, they were also larger 25" in the living area and the master.

We are looking forward to the improvements at OKW, because other than the 19" TV in the bedrooms we loved our villa.

The channels vary depending on resort location. We found SSR to get a pretty good variety of stations. We were stormed in a few years back and watched alot of television.

BLT does not have many channels at all. I was surprised about that, but it was really limited when we were there last October.

At the Condo meeting last December, many of the comments were regarding the lack of channels and DVD said they were looking into it.

I think management got the message about the importance of TV in the villas. Many of the older gentlemen made comments about enjoying DVC with their Grandkids for a week and then after they leave wanting to relax in the villa with tv and how they could not because of the lack of channels. I know my DH enjoys relaxing and watching tv and "humors me" as well. Dividing the family on where to vacation is bad for business.
