what dvc resale companies have you used??

We are using GMAC and have had no problems whatsoever. I think they are pretty equal. I would go with which ever one of the resellers mentioned frequently has the contract you are looking for.

I used the timeshare store for our first purchase (100 points at OKW). Everything went smoothly. For our 2 add-ons I went with DVC because we didn't have to pay closing costs.

I used Timeshare Store and they were great. But they aren't the only ones.

95% of all reports I've read on the DIS from people who bought from experienced DVC resellers have been very positive towards the reseller. And of the 5%, the complaints are just customer service problems - the reseller was slow to call them back, didn't fully explain how long the process would be, etc. I can't recall a meaningful complaint where somebody used one of the experienced DVC resellers and had an issue that messed up their purchase (I'm not saying such problems don't exists - just that if they exist, they are very rare).

Most of the customer service complaints have been around one company - GMAC. They sell the most (they have a deal with Disney) and don't always seem to try as hard to be customer friendly. That said, there have been many good things said about them too. And, in the end, they'll still get your sale completed - I wouldn't hesitate to use them if they were the only ones with the contract I wanted.

Note that Timeshare Store is not only a good company to do business with, they also sponsor this forum. All things being equal, I'd give them first shot at my business.

We've purchased 3 resales thru the Timeshare Store all with great results.

My understanding is that GMAC has an agreement with DVC where they get referrals from Disney in exchange for a "finders fee" - which is passed on to the buyer as an additional charge.

Some contracts may even be listed with multiple brokers and others will never make it to the websites since some brokers have a list of what buyers are looking for and when they get such a listing they can call those buyers immediately. So, if you are looking for a specific Use Year, resort or number of points, it may be best to call a broker and let them know what you are looking for.

Yes, it's true. They have something called an "adminstrative fee." Not 100% sure what it's for :confused3 (I contacted them), but if you decide to work through GMAC, the fee is negotiable. Of the 3 contracts I've purchased, I've only paid the fee once. The contract had 3 UY's worth of points available (2005 banked, 2006 available and all current UY (2007) coming) at a great price, and it wasn't worth losing.

We've bought through The Timeshare Store and have had great service. We've also bought through DVC directly, and that experience was less than magical due to the fact that the "Guide" didn't know what she was doing.

I don't think all resellers are created equal. The Timeshare Store is great, I know of two other individuals who get high marks from their customers (although I have not used them myself). And then, there are the other guys.

To me, the thing that sets a good reseller apart from the rest is the experience and knowledge of their people. You do what you want, but I don't want to be a part of someone's learning curve during a significant purchase.

With the Timeshare Store, I had two situations where I really relied on their considerable expertise. One was a situation where we were dealing with a person who proved to be an unscrupulous seller. The other situation was one where I was unsure where to price my offer. In both cases, their advice and company response was perfect.

You're not going to find that everywhere.

We used the Timeshare Store as well, and are currently waiting for ROFR. I have had a mixed experience with them, to be honest. While my agent was very knowlegeable and helpful, the other people (secretaries, etc) in the office have made several mistakes. It took 3 tries just to get the correct name of the resort we are buying on the contract. Then, we get the paperwork from the escrow people and they have the wrong resort on them as well! :scared:
It has been frustrating to say the least, but I will say that my agent made sure corrections were made and that we were comfortable with everything.

We've bought through Robert Machado at The Timeshare Store and had good service and everything went smoothly.

Just sent a check and closing docs on a purchase through DVCbyResale. I was pleased with the service I got, there, and through the closing agency.

I too went thru DVC By Resale and Shontell Crawford. I will say that we did speak with TTS and another firm. Felt pretty good talking with all of them and went with who had the contract we desired most. Couldn't ask for anything more from Shontell and the settlement company.

Same here. Dealt with both companies and both were great to deal with. Ended up buying with Shontell because she had the contract & price that we wanted.

Seems that all of these resale companies are nice. I have talked to a few in the last couple of days and each has been overly friendly and helpful. Just a matter of who has what you are looking for.

I used Carrie at A time Share Broker, atimeshare.com

She was unbelievably efficient, Most of the time it took less than and hour or two to get a response to an email, never more than 4, she moved the process along at lightning speed (with a lot help from the ROFR and ESTOPPLE folks at DVC)

Here is my timeline so you can appreciate haw great an experience it was

Offer submitted 4/10
Offer accepted and paper work returned 4/10
To DVC for ROFR 4/11
Passed ROFR 4/21
Estopple papers received, Closing statements mailed out 4/28
Closing statements received 5/1
Papers and check mailed 5/2
Papers and check received by attorney 5/5
Settled 5/6

26 days from offer to owner

Actually I think I just fell into a big pile of pixie dust somewhere.
