What dollar amount do you consider to be a budget trip?

My Budget trip

2 adults 2 kids

6nts, seasonal passes, free dining, value resort $2000. We are driving so $60 in gas and tolls. Kids have been selling old toys on a local 4 sale Facebook page so they can get souvenirs. We have already bought 10 swords and light up things so this time they are on their own for that junk!

Don't you still have to buy a least a one day ticket to get the free dining package?

Well, I don't know if it is "budget" but we bought APs in June because we knew we would want to go again, so we are going in December.
Family of 5 - 8 nights.
We are staying at SOG. $800
I have a TiW card, but I have guesstimated food to be $1500-2000. Hoping for closer to the 1500 mark (it looks as if it will be likely).
Gas there -$400.
We bought MVMCP tickets with my bonus gift cards I earned from Target this year, so those didn't cost us anything, really.
So, I'm looking at about 2700-3000 total.

I am planning a budget trip likely for after our cruise for 4 of us. I'll buy military tix with wp&m (APs will be expired- *if* we go after the cruise, active if we go before ), probably stay at SOG, and my TiW card will still be good for a month....so that will be about $2400.

We usually run between 4 and 5 thousand with ALL expenses included.

So a budget trip for me would be to stay in a Value, maybe with the QSDP free, no hoppers, no waterparks, very little spending money, no Universal, no rental car and maybe 6 or 7 nights instead of 10.
With all of that I could probably get it down closer to 2500- 3000. I would happily do all of that to be able to go and I know we'd have a great time. I like adding all the other things in though if I can:)

OK. Let's try this. We are staying for four weeks in Sep/Oct and this is our budget:

* Timeshares = $1,300 including tax thru military
* Rental Car = $460 through Dollar for 4 weeks
* Passes = $0 we have APs we got on an earlier trip
* Airfare = $10 through points

total cost = $1,770 for Four Weeks!

I know we will probably spend more money on food than we would at home, but we wouldn't have to and we may go a few other places like Universal, but we wouldn't have to. We basically have a four week vacation for $1,760. I think that's a great deal. i love doing stuff on the cheap. And the condos are at 4 star resorts!

Less than 2000.00. Went this February - had a free dining pin , stayed 6 nights at all star sports for 1750.00 for my family of 4. Cheapest and best trip yet!

For our family of 8:

7-nights/8-days (we usually do 10-days, so this would be budget for us)
Hotel = $500 (we have gotten two rooms at BW for this price in the past)
Base tix = $1200 (budget would equal going during HSD)
Gas = $600 (round trip from KC and back in an older-model Expedition)
Parking = $120 (it is still $15/day, right?)
Misc = $80 (maybe some snacks or other in-park expenses)

We would use our normal food budget to buy items at the grocery store and order pizza to the room.

Total = $2500

It will cost us nearly $4300 to do the exact same thing with free dining and an onsite value hotel. I think the extra $1800 is worth staying in the Disney bubble and not having to carry in food, but will whip out this option if I need to!

ETA: changed the budget around a little because I forgot about parking!!

I should probably know this, but what hotel is BW?

All of our trips have been "budget trips" or we wouldn't get to go! That's just fine with me! :thumbsup2

This upcoming trip was $1739 to the Disney Travel Company--6 nights at ASMu, 6 day base tickets, free dining for 2 adults and 1 child (upgraded to the DDP).
Plus around $250 for gas from VA to FL ($60 of that is a gas card from Visa CC Rewards)
Around $300 for tips and souveneirs ($100 of that is from Swagbucks)

Probably around $2200 total OOP.

there are so many variables but i consider a 'budget' to be $1200 or less for 2 adults for one week and we have park hoppers.

our november trip is:

$678 for 4 nites at CBR
$150 airfare
$0 tickets-AP holders

so that leaves us $350 for food and miscellaneous for 5 days.

we could go cheaper but we want a resort with a hammock.

We are on the west coast, but got in a trip to Disneyland and universal studios Hollywood this past February for under $2200.

This doesn't sound impressive but that included 5 day parkhopper tickets and a day at universal, as well as a nice hotel for my family if six.

We drove from Phoenix, stayed at a nice hotel, ate what we wanted.

I just got really good deals.

My number one pet peeve in life is paying full price.

In October 2011, the four of us, 2 adults and 2 children, had a 6 night package with free QS dining upgraded to regular dining plan and 6 day base tickets in a preferred room at Pop Century for $1987. We drove to WDW but even adding on gas and costs on the road, tips, souvenirs and special experiences (pick a pearl, BBB), our total was right at $2500. Our upcoming 5 night, 6 day package at POR in a Royal Room in September for 2 adults and only 1 child this time with free table service dining and 5 day base tickets cost $2000 and a few cents. I saved an additional $100 off that by paying for the package with Disney gift cards purchased with my Target debit card. We are flying instead of driving this year and airfare was right at $400 for all of 3 of us, nonstop and roundtrip on Southwest. So our total for this trip is $2300, not including tips and special experiences (BBB and Pirates League this time). If we had chosen to stay at a value or in a standard room at POR, it would have been even less.

$2500 is about what I want to spend on Disney trips so I guess that amount is what we consider to be in our budget for a Disney trip. However, we like to take two vacations a year and go other places besides Disney.

I guess maybe the question should have been what is your budget for a budget vacation. The PP I am quoting looks like a great total but only if they don't plan on eating for the four weeks they are in Orlando.

My $4000 budget includes everything. Gas, tolls, food on the road, hotel before Disney, resort, tickets, food, extra money for Food and Wine Festival, and a small amount for souvenirs. The only thing I haven't budgeted for that will most likely get added is Photopass +.

I think that your budget is pretty reasonable if includes everything.
For my family of 5, we are already at $4800 and that doesn't include any of our food or souvenir money for our 8 day trip. If I was willing to drive I could keep our total budget under $5000, but there is no way I'm willing to do that!

OK. Then the total trip would be additional:

$240 for Universal tickets
$1,600 for food
$500 for F&W
$100 for gas
$200 for other parks (mostly Space Center)
$15 for tolls
$1,770 for condo, passes and airfare

$4,425 Total Cost for 4 weeks

Roughly $1,000 per week.

Well I am trying to budget for my trip now for Sept 2014 for 2 adults. So far I have tickets and room (value) at 1561.82, air fare from south west at 500.00, car rental at $275.00
You really need to check out the Transportation board on here - there is no way you will need to pay $275 for a rental car for 2 adults in September. You should be able to shave at least $100 off of that - maybe more if you are willing to rent the smaller, economy cars.

There are GREAT deals to be had on rental cars in Orlando - you just have to hunt for them!

Do you plan to fast the other 2 days of the week? :rotfl2:

I always love it when people have APs or DVC and then say that it costs them $0 for an upcoming trip. It really isn't costing you $0. You just spent the money upfront for those things and determining the cost for a single visit is hard to calculate.

Just checked the current park ticket prices on the Undercovertourist.com and there is no way to take a "budget" trip in my eyes unless you already have tickets. For my family of 5 (only 1 still a "child"), 4 day base tickets (no hopping) are priced at $290.95/$270.95. Just the park tickets would cost $1,434.75! We used to purchase 10 day non-expiring hoppers to use over 3 trips or so but each one of those costs $723.95/$704.95! If I got 5 of those for my family, the cost would be $3,600! The true cost of the tickets could be spread out over the trips they were used on but the initial purchase would really hurt! I think the last ticket of that type I purchased was in 2009 and the cost was around $500. Then we went with a friend who was able to get military tickets and my son went on a trip with my sisters using Y.E.S. tickets. Can't believe how pricey tickets are now!
