What does your company give you for Xmas

::WOW:: I guess DH and I are spoiled...

DH: 2 weeks pay and end of the year bonus (works out to be a little over 1 week's pay) so essentially 3 week's pay.

Me: 2 week's pay.

We also get paid day off for Christmas.... I had no idea my company was so generous.... :thumbsup2 REALLY thankful for my job!

Im a little cooled down about this situation, so I feel I can post this now. I do want to say that I am thankful for my job and I do enjoy it, but....

I am a child care specialist at an adult education building. I was apprached this week about everyone else going to be gone for a meeting and wanted to know if I could come down and make all of the kids lunches or if I rather them order pizza for us. I had no problem making our lunches. Didnt think much of it, thought it was odd the lunch lady was gonna be gone, but o well.

So that day comes and my assistant asks what the meeting is going to be about, the person laughs and says what meeting? They go on to tell us that there is a staff Christmas lunch. Hmm, we were not invited, we werent even told about it, we were LIED to about this. The whole building went, even the janitor. We were very hurt over this situation. Yes, we had children to take care of, but we do have a sub on call every day who could of been there, they did have subs for the adult teachers. I think what upset me most was that I was lied to about this and told it was a meeting. And, my boss is a very good friend of mine, one who I would consider my closest friend. :(

So, I got nothing. Was thinking maybe we would get a gift card, maybe even a Christmas card would have been nice. But, no.

Everyone else got a all you can eat catered in meal that gave them three different buffet options, Mexican, Italian, and homestyle and a variety of desserts. There was also awards, prizes, and drawings.

Today was the last day before Christmas break, which I have to take off and do not get paid for, and not even a card was given to us. Guess I know where I stand.

I would be hurt and mad too. Sorry.

My husbands company used to give a Christmas bonus, it was based on several factors, and could range anywhere from $300-$800. This past year then went to quarterly bonuses that are based on a scale and work performance. If you are meeting expectations you will receive a total of $1000, which he has through out the year. They also give each person a choice of a $50 gc, usual suspects like Home Depot, Lowes, Visa, Applebees, or Olivie Garden. Hubby gets to keep the GC, I get the $$$$ :rotfl: I have always been aware that these can NEVER be counted on, and are a true GIFT. Just having a job here in Michigan is considered a gift as well.

I work for a rather large doctor's office. We have over 50 employees... all but 2 are women. So we were each given a pair of Kate Spade earrings. (large colored gemstone studs in a variety of colors.. i got Orange) then we had a big Christmas party at a nice restaurant with open bar. Then the one doctor I work with specifically got me a $25 gift card. I felt very very lucky this year as I havent worked since before my kds were born so it was very nice

I work in a nursing home. We have a luncheon, on-site, for each shift. We are allowed an hour lunch instead of an half hour. They have door prizes that are presented via pulling names from the hat. The money for all this comes from the corporate office, our ladies' auxiliary and the COIN (Coworkers In Need) committee. The residents, via the resident council, for the past two years have presented each employee with a small gift. I think that is sweet. Last year a pen, this year an ID holder.

I work for the city/Police Department and there is definitely no Christmas gift or bonus, unless you count a 2 year wage freeze as a gift. :confused3 I also had to miss the Christmas Party (put on by the benevolent). But those of us that had to work the night of the party do get to go out to dinner together some time in January and have a certain dollar amount towards our meals paid for.

My husband's company doesn't give Chirstmas gifts or even have a company party, but his department had a Holiday get-together at a local bar.

This is very different from my previous employer, who had a swanky Holiday party, including an annual gift and in the good years we received bonuses up to about $1,000.00. But I was laid off and the company doesn't even exist anymore...so...it was good while it lasted I suppose.

My company gave us nothing. We did have a pot luck breakfast on Wednesday though. My client sent me a $25 Kohls gift card and a wrapped gift for my son. :cool1:

First I'd like to say how grateful I am to have my job. I work from home and my company has merged, been bought, etc. several times over the last decade. I've lost many coworkers to large scale layoffs over the years. Recently corporate announced that there wouldn't be any raises this year. I figured our annual bonus (usually $100 and a luncheon -- home employees got $15 to buy a lunch) would be cut out also. To my total amazement they did give bonuses based on salary, years with the company, etc. Mine came to almost the same as what a 3% raise over a year would have been. A very nice and unexpected surprise.

We have a holiday party/dinner, but we we pay in full to attend. It's lots of fun to get together, though, and I don't mind having to pay for it, honestly. I never really thought about getting a gift/party/bonus really, to be honest. :confused3 I'm thrilled to have my job, and what I consider to be a really great one at that! :woohoo:

The ladies I work with will each be receiving a Godiva gift basket, Bath & Body gift basket, $20 GC to Ulta, a Christmas ornament and one paid week off.

Well, last year we got a company dinner and a $200 visa GC (which was handed out at the dinner). Not sure about this year. One of the women made a stink and put out a petition that we all signed to not make waves about not having the dinner so who knows if we'll get the GC.

But I've already benefited from the generousity of others. The brokers in my office get treats from the companies who are trying to solicit business but the brokers can't eat it all so we all benefit. So far our office has received over 10lbs of expensive chocolates (imprinted with "thank you and happy holidays"). A cookie basket arrangement with fancy santa lolipop cookies. A box of cookies from Carolina Cookies. A box of cookies from Dancing Deer Baking co (these were amazing). A Harry & David Tower of Treats. A big tin of popcorn. A box of italian cookies (do we see a theme here :rotfl: ) and a couple of other selections of treats.

DH received a $500 bonus and they're having a holiday reception with drinks and appetizers at an upscale bar.

I'm a SAHM, so just smiles and kisses from DD :lovestruc, or maybe I should ask DH when he's giving me my bonus ;). When I worked for Citi 2 years ago they had a big swanky holiday party at a fancy hotel. All you can eat buffet, open bar, prizes, drawings for cash. All completely free. I was so grateful to be working for a company that appreciated it's employees. I also got a 4% raise that year (after a 6 billion dollar loss that year). Last year I guess they cut it due to all the losses they took.

DH usually gets a cash bonus. He works for a small, internet based, used text-book seller/marketplace. Generally it's $500-$1500. Last year he had to push a major project out and was working 14 hr days for 3 weeks straight and also putting in 4-5 hrs on the weekend, so his bonus was $1500. This year it was $1000, but rolled into his paycheck we only took home about $800. We were still thrilled though. That pays for 2/3 of Christmas! DH has a huge family, youngest of 8 siblings, 24 nieces and nephews, and we have to buy for all of them :scared1:. I

I am very fortunate. I'm self employed and work from home, but the graphics company I sub out to has given me $500 each Christmas for about 12 years now. One year they received a large contract and I received $1000. I love my job no matter bonus or not. Nice to work in PJs if you're not feeling well :lmao:

I teach 150 eighth graders. Probably 30 of them brought in gifts! Wow!

I hauled in more candy than my family could eat over the holiday break, about $100 in various gift cards, a few cute Christmas ornaments, a beautiful fruit basket, a pashmina shawl (don't quite know when I'll wear it, but I'll work it in to my wardrobe somehow.) I am incredibly grateful for each of my students and for their parent's generosity.

It is so nice to feel loved and appreciated by the students that I work with everyday. I will certainly never bring home a fat bonus check, but those gifts and cards were VERY meaningful.

I work for a hospital and all we get is a $15 publix giftcard and a meal in the cafeteria. Of course I worked nights that night of the dinner and the kitchen ran out of food(like they did not know how many would be working).

DH works retail and gets nada.

Nothing new for us. I have learned not to expect anything and that way I am surprised when I get something.

I work for a small, healthy nonprofit. Our staff went out to lunch, but, unlike in past years, we had to pay for it ourselves. We also had a potluck party with spouses. I do get off with pay from December 23-January 4, however.

DH works for a national corporation, which is in trouble. He got nothing, but he does gets paid holidays for Christmas and New Year's. They used to get lunch -- never been any bonuses or gifts.

My Christmas bonus is that I still have a job. We were all asked to take pay cuts last year and see no likelihood of even going back to our previous pay.

Dh works for a company that did well this year. They had a company Christmas party which was nice. The support staff each rec'd a bonus which was given at the party. Commission sales staff (you know, the people who make the money for the company) got nothing. As you can guess, dh is commissioned - we got nada.

My job from 2002 - 2005 never gave a holiday bonus. My job from 1988 - 1999 gave a $50 grocery gift card. I worked at a hospital 1986 - 1988 and we got a ham.

Like I said, I'm just glad to have a job.

My husband works for an insurance company. They do a pick a present kinda thing where they get to choose from a bunch of stuff in a catalog (all valued in the $30ish range). He got four movie tickets (Hollywood Movie Money) that are good until the end of next year. He's picked that several times in a row now. I like it: No clutter and something we don't usually do.

I work for a public school and get nothing. There was a school holiday party at someone's house, but they were charging $15 a head to cover the food. No thanks. It was, however, nice that he principal and vice principal made waffles for everyone this morning. And the teacher I work for took the teaching assistant out for lunch today.

I am a municipal employee and I get zippo.
My husband is a supervisor at a hospital and he gets nothing.
He used to get a turkey, and a Christmas party at a local catering hall,
but not this year And, you know that once they stop a perk, you never get it back, even if things improve, its doubtful they will ever do it again.
