Like to do on the plane? I've got plenty to keep my 6 yo busy, but not much for my son. Any ideas?

Does he have a DS or other handheld device? Books that he would enjoy reading or puzzle books/activiity books? favorite movie on the ipad or other device? Any new toy he would enjoy playing with? Favorite snacks or gum that's a treat, that he can only eat at certain times during flight?

What small things would he enjoy having? I guess it depends on how long your flight is. My kids, a few years older than yours, have always found something to do. I even played hang man and tic tac toe with my DD when she was younger.

You can also bring a map and guidebook or other and have him review where you are going and what you are doing and ask what he wants and talk about your destination with him.

I hope your DS has fun flying. My kids have flown so much, they just chill on the plane most of the time now.

Hmm, thinking back to when my kids were 10, they used their DS's, iTouch (both with headphones) and word search books.

They also liked to look at kids books about where we were going (mainly WDW).

My DS11 likes to look through the SkyMall catalog in the back of the seats. There are some strange products for sale, and he usually gets a kick out of that for a while. He takes his ipod loaded with tunes and apps and that fills the rest of the flight.

DS, iPad, iPhone, books, sketch pad with pencils. That's what kept my then 9 year old boy busy on the plane the last time we went to WDW

Typically, my kids sleep. My youngest falls asleep before take off, usually wakes up on the descent. Older son stays awake for the first 30 or so and then is out. Works out nicely for us!

Last trip we brought their iPod's and older son did use his a bit. I used younger son's the entire time to track our flight - great cure for my anxiety ;)

My 20 y/o dd has been flying since she was 3! She pretty much learned to bring what she wanted. I would ask your DS wants he wants to bring with him. DS and iPods seem to be popular.

My ten year old always has his kindle with him on airplanes, in the car, etc. He uses it to read books, play games, watch movies, listen to audio books, listen to music, etc. That's all he needs. :) Much easier than the 8 million stickers, crayons, tiny toys, books, play dough, etc. that I had to lug along with he was little!

My sons- one brings his kindle fire, the other brings an iPad. I bring Mad Libs for them. It's something we don't do at home, but are good for a laugh when we travel.

Plus my 10 year old likes plenty of snacks. I usually bring something Disney themed- crackers, fruit snacks, etc.

Jet Blue-he etches his iPod for headphones and the TV!

My kids like the ispy/search books, the mystery writer books-the special marker that reveals the answer.

playing with the ipod or ds..... that's what he loves from the minute we get to the airport till the minute we get through Mickeys purple gates....:rotfl2: and I always love that b/c then I can sit and read for the same amount of time:cool1:
