What does this mean? (ME related)

I called last night to have my flight information added to our ME ressies. The CM asked me what airline we were flying and then asked for the flight number for our arrival (and same questions for departure). It's the same routine from the last couple of years. Except that tonight, when I pulled up our reservation online, it's stating "unknown" before the actual flight number. Here's what it says:

Wednesday, September 12 Arrival
Unknown 707
From Unknown (XXX)
Arrives: 12:00am Orlando, FL (MCO)
Tuesday, September 18 Departure
Unknown 756
Departs: 12:00am Orlando, FL (MCO)
To Unknown (XXX)

I'm assuming the "unknown" part is where our airline (Southwest) is supposed to go. The "from/to unknown" I'm guessing is where we're flying out of and back to? That would be Chicago/Midway. Time is off as well, but that doesn't concern me since I know they match it up by flight number, not by time. I don't remember my past ressies pulling up the detail like this when I pulled it up online, just that I had ME booked. So for anyone using ME, do your online ressies state what airline you're using? If so, then I need to make another phone call.

MIne also says the same thing, but does have delta listed as the air carrier

Ok so yours actually does list the airline...looks like I'm going to have to call back since mine isn't listed at all. Honestly what's the point of a CM asking me what my airline is if they aren't even going to enter it in?

We're flying Southwest as well, in December, and it isn't listed on ours, either. I know Southwest isn't contracted with Disney to do the in-resort check-in....I wondered if that had something to do with it.

Check in isn't the issue with airlines contracted or noncontracted...it's checking out. All they do at check in is grab your bags from baggage claim and put them in your room. However, at check out, they actually check in your luggage to the contracted airline, from what I understand. Unless it's how it's entered? Like if you're flying a non-contracted airline, it's entered as "other" in their system and therefore pops up as "unknown" online? Who knows....

I'll give them a call tomorrow just in case...I just want to be sure they actually are aware of what airline we're flying. The flight number is kind of pointless if they aren't aware of the actual airline. :)

Yeah....by check-in, I'm referring to flight check-in from your resort, not checking into your resort. In-resort checking-in for your flight.

So, since it's not a contracted airline, I thought it probably was entered as "other", like you mentioned. Still not sure why that would make any difference with ME, but it's what I figured was the issue with "Southwest" not being listed.

When I first called in my ME information everything was put in it showed the dates, airline, where from and where too, with all the times and flight numbers. I had a change of flight info, one a flight number change and one a time change, a few weeks ago and called in all the new information. When I checked on it later it only showed the airline, flight number and to and from Orlando only. It is missing where it is from it just shows unknown and the times are incorrect both showing 12am. I called back to disney reservations and they told me they didn't need all that information all they needed were the flight numbers because from that they can get all the other information and they said they check everyones flights to make sure things haven't changed at the last minute. It does make sense but it still bothers me that they have slots for the info but won't put it all in correctly.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've used DME 4-5 times now, and they never seem to get my airline info right. Well, they did this time (for next week) but that's a first. And the funny thing is that although I gave them info for flight return home, we aren't flying home. I'm taking DME back to the airport to rent a car for the rest of our vacation. But they have my pretend flight info listed correctly...for the first time!!!
They really don't need it other than to plan accordinly for buses.

This seems to be a very common occurrence. Since it happens quite often, and yet people's reservations work out just fine, just chalk it up as a harmless glitch in the system.

Mine was that way both times. My actual DME reservations were just fine, but the paperwork I got made it look like I was flying a generic airline at midnight. No worries.

OK, as far as the exact airline ... it makes NO DIFFERENCE what airline it is. It makes NO DIFFERENCE whether or not an airline is a participating airline in Resort Airline Check-in, a service that is offered at the END of your trip. As far as your ARRIVAL goes, Disney has no special arrangements with any airline about ANYTHING.

Bags aren't picked up at baggage claim, they are pulled behind-the-scenes before they get to the baggage claim carousel. People who put the DME luggage tags on their bags will not have ANY access to their checked bags until those bags are delivered to the inside of their resort rooms.

If you have DME questions, don't bother calling the Disney Reservations Center (407-W-DISNEY) with those questions. They are wonderful experts at resorts, park tickets and dining, but they are not DME experts. The DME experts are DME CMs, and they can be reached directly at 866-599-0951.

Trust me, I know how ME works, so I don't need a break down of it, but thank you...hopefully those who aren't sure about how it works will find the info useful! :)

I'm not concerned about the flight times or even the to/from part saying "unknown"...that's easily figured out by the flight number itself. My concern was the fact that it states the airline itself as "unknown." I have seen more than once where different airlines have had the same flight number. I noticed this in the spring when my brother flew into town to visit me and I accidentally walked in the Delta section - he was flying SWA - and they had a flight with the exact same number, just a different arrival time. I realized that I walked into the wrong section when I saw the different time and thought "this isn't right." Because of this, I just want to make sure that they actually are aware of the airline so they're not looking for luggage from the wrong flight that happens to have the same flight number. I g uess it's just best for me to call just to be sure...better to be safe then sorry. Even if it is just an online glitch, I'd feel more comfortable knowing for sure that they are aware of what airline I'm flying.

Trust me, you need some more info to know how DME works, so forgive me if I try to help you with this breakdown of it ....

If you truly knew how DME works, then you wouldn't worry whether or not they have the right airline info for you, as far as your luggage is concerned. They don't look for or hunt down specific bags. ALL bags from ALL airlines are pulled from the luggage stream because they have the bright yellow DME tags on them. So NOW that you know how it really works, you won't fret, because now you realize that they are not looking for your luggage, they're just looking for yellow DME tags.

Let's say your luggage is missing, that the airline messed up and didn't fly your bags to MCO. No matter what info they have in your DME reservation, nobody will know whether or not your luggage is missing until AFTER you check in at the Disney Welcome Center. In other words, when people have DME reservations but decide not to use DME, it's not like there are CMs scouring the airport looking for those people's luggage. When you check-in, you can confirm they have your correct flight info. This will ONLY matter if your luggage isn't found. DME will know this because the tags are barcoded, and if they don't show up in the computer database in a reasonable amount of time, that will tickle DME to start looking for them, and the first places they'll check will be with your airline (baggage claim, baggage office, etc.). In other words, no one could possibly be looking for your bags until AFTER you check in with DME. And if at that point you make sure they have your info correct, you'll be just fine.

But you knew all of this already ... I was just including this for others who aren't sure how it works.

My online ressies were exactly like yours & I called a few weeks ago & gave them my info & it has been corrected

CleveRocks, there really isn't a need to have your post dripping with sarcasm. My response to you was a simple statement, not a request for talking down to me. But thanks anyway.

Thanks for letting me know...obviously it IS something that needed correction and can be corrected. :) I got off the phone with them just a bit ago after reading your post and the CM told me that they do need my actual flight carrier and that is important information. I feel better knowing that I didn't just leave it up to chance, regardless of what has been told to me. As I said, I'd rather be safe than sorry...no matter how ME "works."

Your response to my first post in this thread read like you were sarcastically responding to my initial attempt to help you. My mistake, evidently.

Sarcasm or not, I was still trying to be helpful by providing you with info to help you and your with your travels and not unnecessarily be concerned.

I called a few days ago and gave them our flight info, (SW 407) and when I looked online it said "Jetblue 46"!! So I called and they fixed it, and now it says Unknown XXX 12am like yours! I'm not going to lose any sleep over it unless my tags don't show up!
