We will be at SSR during the 4th..We know the parks are going to be crazy that day so we are not planning on going in to them. The kids love the water splash area at SSR and the pools/playgrounds too..Wondering if the resort does anything special???

Thanks,

Kristin

Bumping this up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were at SSR last July 4th and we spent the day at the waterpark. When we came back that afternoon, they were making red white or blue ice cream out by the pool ($2) and having a pool party with bingo ($1), games and trivia at High Rock Springs.

While we were making ice cream, a lady was telling me that earlier they had gone over to OKW where they had a really cute parade and activities, so she spent part of her day over there and then came back to SSR for the afternoon activities.

Later that evening at the Congress Park pool, SSR put on a pool party and fireworks viewing for the DTD fireworks. They had a DJ, and contests and piped in the music for the fireworks. Very similar for what they do for NYE also but earlier, I believe the fireworks were at 9pm or 10pm.

We had a good time. We are more into the relaxation, avoid crowds mode, so we dont do the parks during peak times.

What she said!

Its crowded, its hot, but we haven't been to a Holiday celebration at WDW that we did not like!

...but there's a pool party at OKW--dancing, favors, hula hoop and limbo contests, a "Pargo parade," popcorn/snowcones at communtiy hall, Goofy leads nthe parade, etc......

Sounds FUN.. How were the waterparks that day.......???????????????????

I think we will have FUN just spending the day at SSR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are also going to be at SSR on the 4th, and were planning the same thing, just staying at the resort and relaxing. The pool party sounds fun. I would love to hear more info about that from anyone who has any

We have spent the last two 4th's at SSR and are planning to do the same this year. Like said above, great pool party in the afternoon at High Rock Springs. Then another pool party at Congress Park in the evening. The fireworks at DTD are at Midnight, and are great. I haven't been to fireworks on July 4th at the parks, because we're at the pool party, so I can't compare how they are to the parks'. There are a lot of people that hit the park fireworks and make it back to SSR to see the DTD ones.

Last year when we checked in at SSR, I asked the lady what time the fireworks were at DTD because it wasn't listed on the WDW website, all the others were. She told me there wasn't going to be any fireworks at DTD anymore, she didn't know. I wanted to go back to the desk and say "I told you so".

Sounds like the pool at SSR will be crowded that day,,.LOL!!!!!!!!

I think we will hit the pool early and then rest and then do some more of the party.. I want it to be a relaxing day.........:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
