What does no masks mean for DVC?

Mostly minor impact for DVC resort wise, except apparently not needing to wear them in resort stores, indoor common areas, and eateries. I believe they will still be required on resort to park transportation buses. So, for now, you'll still need to bring some. With the in room laundry service, I'll bring two or three, and throw them in when I do clothes, so I'll have a fresh one for the buses every day.

I hope it means further capacity increase and more things opening up quickly.

Gotta wait for unemployment fed bump to run out next month for that. People should be scrambling for jobs next few weeks.
many people here, in F.> have switched to jobs where they either work from home, or work in places that require vaccines, or have become self employed. I read an article in Orlando paper that interviewed many people, took a monkey survey and came to this conclusion. WE have a lot of latino immigrants here, not afraid of hard work, but they are afraid of getting sick, all that have worked for us ( new house), have been vaccinated. In fact the only two out of maybe 12 that haven't been were older white males in trades. I found this interesting and will watch and see how this pans out.

Just a reminder to everyone to please stay on topic. The DISBoards have a policy...

The global COVID pandemic created unprecedented restrictions, disruptions and changes to our travel, work, shopping, schooling, social interactions and so many other aspects of our lives since the beginning of 2020. We’ve all been affected, and we have been inundated with news, information, mis-information, frustrations and opinions. We’ve heard them, we’ve shared them, we’ve argued about them.

The discussions, debates and arguments about the virus, distancing and masking policies, various politicians’ statements and actions have been overwhelming and divisive. Many threads on the DISboards have been derailed or devolved into arguments due to this topic. We understand the passion, but feel that we’ve let the discussions run their course. We are sure there are better places on the WWW to learn about and debate scientific, medical and political issues. The mission of the DISboards is to be a great travel resource and a friendly community.

Now that travel is opening up again, it’s time to refocus on that mission!

From this point on, we will welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO TRAVEL. Things like the vaccination policies issued by venues or destinations, the cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for travelers or things they might need to know that are different from location to location are all valid topics. Any official policies issued by Disney, other travel destinations, cruise lines, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for visiting parks or cruising can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.

We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed: No statistics about infection rates, no ranting about individual rights, no “face-diaper” comments, no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective, no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.

In summary: COVID related discussion should be limited to actual policy and practical application, and NOT veer into opinion or debate.

We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the DISboards to do that.

Thank you,
DISboards Administrators

I don't think there are specific DVC related policies around face masks. DVC resorts simply follow the broader WDW resort rules.

What these changes mean, both for the WDW DVC Resorts, and the broader WDW Parks and Resorts in general, is that: If you are aboard any WDW transportation (boats, monorail, skyliner, bus, etc. etc.) then you MUST wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. If you're vaccinated, you can wear a face mask if you wish, but you are free to not wear a face mask anywhere else. If you aren't vaccinated, then facemasks are required everywhere (indoors and outdoors) except if you are actively eating/drinking while stationary.

Simply: If you are vaccinated, then you must wear a face mask on transportation, otherwise you are free to wear or not wear a mask that fits your desired level of comfort. If you aren't vaccinated, then the old face mask rules apply from before they started removing the requirements.

I also think that any 3rd party establishments at WDW (think swan/dolphin, shops at Disney Springs, etc.) are free to be more strict if they wish...so YMMV.

I don’t believe masks are required on the boats after the new rules take affect.

They are moving in the right direction slowly but surely. Hopefully when I go in September masks will not be required for transportation. Been twice during covid when masks were fully required and made the reservation in September when masks were fully required. I will be going even if masks were fully required but will be really nice if masks are not required at all for vaccinated guests.

The arcades are opening back up. I think that is important for DVC because it shows WDW risk assessment has come way down. There’s not much left stopping them from getting operations fully functioning again outside of logistics.

I think that’s a good sign too, especially considering it has the potential for close proximity and greater chance of exposure by touching the joysticks and buttons.
