What does John Kerry want to do?

Maybe I'm just missing it. John Kerry has made many speeches, but I'm missing something. I here a lot about his personal philosophies and war record and how he wants to take America back. But I haven't heard HOW he plans to do that. I'm not asking for detailed plans or fiscal schedules, just a general plan. I know he wants to raise taxes on the top earners. I know his thoughs on Iraq. But I don't hear about a myriad of other issues. I just want to hear more than personal philosophy.

I'm VERY unlikely to vote for Kerry anyway, but it would be unfair to dismiss him out of hand without knowing more about what he actually plans to do.

What he wants to do today will most likely be very different than what he wants to do tomorrow or actually do later.

Here's what he has to say:
National Security
Economy and Jobs
Health Care
Energy
Homeland Security
Education
Environment
Other Issues

Just a few of the reasons I'm voting for him:

He wants to create jobs. He wants to bring people out of poverty. He wants the super rich and corporations to pay their fair share of taxes rather than placing the burden on the middle class and small businesses. He wants to provide schools with the support they need He wants to make America safe. He wants to uphold the Consitution. He wants to bring respect and integrity back to the United States.

He's a left-leaning Democrat with the appropriate record and intentions.

His philosophy really resonates with his plan for prescription drugs - chipping away at the drug companies' control over prescriptions in several ways. Also curbing deceptive lending practices. Bravo. But it's a little out there too, in his stated intention to restore full welfare benefits to immigrants...a lot of people would prefer that other people not land on the welfare rolls when they arrive here. And his "School's Open Til' Six" plan is either a blessing in the lives of hard-working parents or a state-run babysitting service depending on your POV...either way, it's huge.

Conservatives have reason to worry, liberals have reason to hope, same old story.

Don't feel too bad Treesinger.

I've been looking for plans from President Bush for almost 4 years now.

I guess we have the same problem, we're not looking in the correct places!

I am the husband of an extremely dedicated school teacher (she prefers to teach "at risk" children). You know, the ones that have drug-addict parents, or one parent in prison, or (my personal favorite) only one parent, because the other parent didn't have the integrity to hang out and help.

Anyway, a HUGE majority of teachers are extremely upset with President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" program because it's so underfunded and unrealistic. Kerry pledges to fund the program (which he voted for and now isn't happy with because of the underfunding, hence the right-wing rhetoric of flip-flop, sheesh).

Anyway, my response to the OP is: What we have now has not been good for our country. Why not give Kerry a chance. It can't get worse, it could get better. At least that's the way I see it, and my daughter says I'm the smartest man in the world. Who knows, she could be right.
