Stupid question.

I haved booked directly through disney.

I have seen many say they would then transfer their reservation to AAA, Dreams unlimited, etc to gain perks.

How do you do this?

Do you call the travel agent you are transferring to first or Disney first.

Is there ANY risk?

Thanks

In my experiance I called Disney to cancel my reservation so I could make it with AAA. Disney suggested just transferring it so they marked it for the company I would be transferring it to (AAA) and then AAA took it over and gave me the perks and made the changes I needed. That's how it worked for me, but YMMV.

Thanks a bunch. I will call AAA & disney today.

PS what does YMMV mean?

LOL

I just called AAA. Transferred the ressie.

Got four mug (value $140) and they will make the change effective saturday 5/10, when AAA throws in a free disney cruise towel for each reservation (we have adjoining rooms so -2- towels.

If the AAA rate is lower we get that, too (won't hold my breath, though).

You just made my day, and earned me over $150.00!

YDB (You da bomb).

Thanks

If you are getting travel insurance make sure you check into AAA instead of the Disney insurance. That was a huge money savings for me.:earsboy:

GREAT point.

Got a call in now. I have a quote of $396 for 4 people. I'd love to cut that.

I owe you big time.

I had reservations with Disney. First time called Costco. They gave me a price many hundreds lower than Disney. They transfered it for me and at final payment time I just paid less. Same rooms, etc.

Next time did the same thing with cruise.com. I called around and they offered me the lowest price to switch. Same reservation info, just $100 per person less than Disney. Both times I had already made my deposit to Disney, so the final payment will just be less.

You can always get the lower price if you keep your eyes open.

jgalecpa, I accept gifts, cash or credit!!

btw, my cruise only insurance was 390 with Disney and AAA
was 40 per person so it was only 160 bucks.....

That's excellent rate if the coverages are the same. I presume you compared them...

hello all!! was considering trying to transfer my reservation from DCL to AAA- it is all paid for- in order to get the free mugs... but now towels too!!! has anyone transferred a complete/paid for reservation and still got all the perks??? DCL says it's possible just they will no longer "communicate" with me directly and all questions/issues will have to go through AAA... have been stalling to see if i will have any of these mysterious questions- the cruise is booked, paid for, waiting list for early dinner, and no news of an upgrade- so anyone have any stories on why i should wait to transfer?? transfer at all?? thanks!!

Note: I was told the Towel deal with AAA was for Disney Week that starts Saturday 5/10/03.

It's called Disney week so I assume it lasts, I don't know, seven days. But you know what happens when you assume.

ok i transferred my complete/paid for reservation from DCL to AAA this morning... my AAA travel consultant was awesome and very friendly and helpful... she says that AAA will give us mugs for EVERYONE- thats $120 savings for 6 people, and we are soda people so this is thrilling... BUT, she did not have any knowledge of Disney week or free towels...does anyone have any more informatiuon on this?? thanks!!! this board is just so helpful!!!
