We've been trying craigslist with no luck. Lot's of inquiry's, but no buyers. My DH wants to try e-bay, but I've heard you have to pay to list something. Does anyone know? Also, when it's posted, is it one area (like craigslist) or is it everywhere?

Thanks.

The fee's will vary, depending on among other things, your starting price, reserve price if used, options, duration of listing, and format listing. Here is the list of fee's. In addition to the listing fee, ebay charges a final value fee which is based on the selling price (only charged if item sells). And thirdly if you use Paypal, they will take their percentage as well. Selling on Ebay is not for everyone. To answer your second question, when you list on ebay it is for the entire US, and is searchable by anyone (US or Not). Ebay has sites set up for other countries as well.

We have had NO luck with Craig's List as well. :confused3 We have several items on right now.
As far as ebaying, I have only bought. Have looked into selling but more complicated than I want right now.
Good luck! :thumbsup2

I'd go with ebay. You get a huge audience compared to craigslist. I've sold to buyers in every state and virtually every major country in the world over the years. The fees are well worth it if the merchandise justifies the cost. And it is relatively simple to do.

Craigslist is usually for heavy stuff that you want to sell locally or cheap things that won't sell on eBay. It would help to know what type of stuff
you are intending to sell. eBay does have several listing processes and one of them is a very simple 5 input screen. If you have books, media or electronic games/consoles try half.com as well, very easy to list there, I just put up 40 DVD's from my personal collection and sold 1/2 in 3 days at great prices. Before you sell on eBay go to advanced search and check the box mark "completed items" and look for stuff similar to yours to get an idea of the price. Put a "Buy It Now" option on everything you sell (usually 10-15%) markup from what you hope to get on auction. I've been using eBay since 1999 and never had a problem selling anything, it is amazing what people will buy.

Thanks for the help everyone....it just seems so complicated!

I know, that's how I feel. Maybe we'll just wait on it.....We'd like to sell this so we can put in solar hot water, but sheesh....I don't know.

I didn't think I could say on here what it was....but it's a vehicle. It's a somewhat rare vehicle...not like an Elvis pink caddy, but to the right people it's a hard to find thing and there were a limited amount made. Ours is in great shape and DH has put a lot into it. We're asking less than 1/2 of what we've put into it, so it's not like we're asking way too much $$ for it.

Do your research first! Some states, and I do not know about Ma. have laws about selling cars online. Ebay has a whole section for automotive. The fee's I referenced above were for non motor listings. This is the fee list for "motors" http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/motorfees.html .

You can tell us what the vehicle is, you just shouldn't link to the auction once you have it set up.

Personally, you have me very curious. What's the vehicle?

ebay motors is very popular with the classic and collectible car crowd. If it is rare or hard to find or in demand, that would be the place to sell it.

Ebay motors sells well. My son has bought several cars on Ebay including a Porsche and a Lotus. So..it seems to work!

It's Jeep Scrambler. If you're not a jeep person, it probably doesn't mean much to you, but for jeep people, they only made them a couple years and most are rust buckets now. It's sort of a cross between a regular jeep and a pick up. 2 front seats and a longer bed, kind of like a truck, but you can put a back seat in it and still have room in the back.

It was loads of fun when our boys were smaller to run around in, but now they're both bigger than my DH and don't fit in the back seat! Sad to see it go, but we also hate that we don't drive it anymore. Someone should be enjoying it like we did.

Check on eBay Motors before deciding on anything. Currently, there are 12 listings for Scramblers on there. Good luck!

Could you please let us know who you decide to use and how it does. I have a mint condition 1941 Ford PU I would like to sell, but have been afraid to list it because I am worried how to do so. Thank you

We are a jeep family. We own 3 including a scrambler. When we purchased our scrambler we did it off of ebay a couple years ago. Those are so hard to come by!

:wave2: Hi! Jeeps are so much fun, it's killing me DH wants to sell it, but it really will do it no justice sitting.....might as well let someone else enjoy it I guess. Besides, it's not the only one we have and I'm sure he'll replace it at some point with something else.

I'll try.
