Just wondering if children can get fries or are they charged for them? My son is very picky and if theres no pizza on the menu I will ask for pasta with butter but he loves fries, so will they give him fries? Just wondering, always wondered what it meant. Linda

They offer healther options as part of their healthy living movement. But, if you'd rather you can have fries instead of fruit or salad (or other items), soda instead of milk, cookies or ice cream instead of fruit salad (these are just some examples). There is no extra charge you just ask for it.

We were on the DDP and my daughter was able to substitute fries for the carrot sticks and red grapes at most CS restaurants for her 3 year old daughter with no problems.

attempt to steer kids towards a healthier diet. Other items are offered in place of fries but fries are available for those that want their kids to have them.

BTW - fries are often listed as a part of adult CS meals. You can have the meals without fries. Disney will deduct about $1.70 from the listed meal price.

It means they hope that you will stick to what's printed on the menu and won't ask for the fries. That way, they can say to the surgeon general, the food police and whoever else is monitoring that their emphasis is on providing healthy meals for children. It also means the parents won't complain, because they can still get the kids fries. They won't charge extra for the fries; you just will not automatically get fries with a kids' meal, you have to ask for them.

Thanks! THAT is worth knowing. We never come close to eating a fraction of the fries.

We always substitute. My ds8 does not eat raw carrots/celery, grapes or applesauce. So we get fries instead of carrots, soda instead of milk (he's allergic to milk) and cookies instead of fruit. Makes a somewhat healthy meal very unhealthy but hey he's on vacation too and I get much more variety in my meal choices than he does so atleast if he's eating the same thing all trip, he'll like what he's having.

Hey, can you substitute the healthy items insted of the fries in an adult meal?

It means exactly that - fries available on request!! Even at the buffet at CP there are no fries and all you have to do is request an order of fries.

Yes you can. For the dining plan minded, you are also able to substitute one of these healthy sides for an adult dessert if you choose.

We were not able to substitute grapes from a childrens menu instead of fries in an adult meal. We were paying OOP. So for the adults it is bad food for us.

Exactly. I am on vacation. I don't want an Italian sandwitch on wholegrain bread. I can eat that the rest of the year.
