Just wondering, we're on the ddp for upcoming Oct. trip. If kids order a kids pizza at a ts can they also get french fries? What does french fries available upon request mean? I guess my real question is "are they free"?:rotfl: Linda

Since most places are trying to have more healthy foods on their menu...especially for kids...they now have carrots or fruit as a side dish. The note of "french fries available on request" is there to let you know that you can substitute them for the standard side dish if you wish. Yes, they are free as long as they are a substitute and not an addition. So, for example, while the hamburger may be served with a side dish, often pizza is not.

When my DD ordered off the child's menu, she was asked if she wanted the vegetables or fruit cup, or if she'd like french fries. She always took the french fries - at no additional charge. Usually, it was a substitution for the veggies and/or fruit.

The kids meals come with fruits or vegetables for the sides. If the kids want, they can pick fries insead for one of the sides. They can also choose a soft drink instead of the milk/juice.

Disney dosn't have fries listed as a side anymore for the kids meals. Most people, when ordering anything, will just take what is on the menu listed. So it's an effort to get kids to eat healthier. However, there are kids out there who aren't not particularly fond of eating healthy so fries are available. Fore example, "I'd like the kid's cheeseburger meal with fries" is one meal since they will leave off the fruit or whatever else is listed as a side.

However, if fries are served at any place, you can order them separately and pay for them separately.

I personally think this is great especially at the CS restaurants with the pictures of the food.

My DD can't read yet, and was perfectly happy with the grapes, carrots etc b/c she didn't see fries, if she saw fries it would have been a different story. Unfortunately she is turning 3 in Dec so this won't work for much longer.
