What does everyone think of this Disney Pin Code "Lottery?"

Love it...we are staying at a value (not yet booked) and honestly I really dont care which one...so I would take my chance...Only thing is if a better deal came later we couldnt change could we?

In the past you have always been able to just call and change the discount code if something better came out. Interesting to see how these new pins play out . . . .

but in the past you wont need to pay till 45 days out and isnt your deposit refundable (up to 45 days out)?...we want to go in Jan and originally were planning the package with dining but now considering discount room (if there is one) and YES tix and just paying OP for meals...we'll see how this all plays out :)

not a fan of blind buying stuff on hotwire or from disney. especially when you could end up in a value for that cost.

but for the folks who would be staying at a value anyway, i think it is a good deal. but as the article mentions and as someone above pointed out, what happens when the discounts come out and it's 67 for a value instead of 91?

Personally, I don't think we would ever use one of these pin codes. We like free dining :-) We are a family of 6, we always get 2 connecting rooms at a value resort for about 8 nights, free dining is always going to be the best discount for us. I mean if the "blind" price would have to be like $25.00 per night for us to take advantage of it.

Does this pin code have a set number of people for the room. I have 5 in my family so if I did this code they would have to put me in an allstar suite or port orleans for 67 a night...Sounds like a good deal for me:dance3:

This may be the first evidence of elimination/reduction of free dining. I would have expected a free dining PIN for the winter released by now.

This PIN may be indicative of the type of discount that will be offered to the general public.

We are your typical off-season value resort guests. For me, I don't see the appeal here. That's pretty much what we would expect to pay anyway. To give up control for a chance at an upgrade is not worth it to me.

Unless....Disney were to do away with peak/off peak pricing at the values. Then it would be a good deal. Not that I see that happening anytime soon, but I guess I just don't get where they are going with this. Seems like there are going to be some disappointed people who are hoping for that Disney magic (AKA-upgrade to a moderate) that will not get it.

Huh? How did you read Free Dining being phased out into this pin code offer? In the past, the free dining discounts for late fall and early winter have not been released until July.

I look for the cheapest way to stay on Disney property. But I don't play games, so I would never book this.

I hope it falls flat like I suspect it will.

Well, the cheapest option is non-changeable, non-refundable. $ 67*
per night, plus tax!

With this special low rate:
• We choose the hotel and room type and you'll find out what it is after booking and paying in full
• Full payment is required at time of booking and payment is nonrefundable
• No cancellations or modifications are allowed after payment

Personally, I don't like it, nor would we ever do it. The cheaper room options are only available Sun-Thurs and for us, we usually go for 2 weeks, so we would still have to pay rack rate on Friday and Saturday. If we're going to have to pay full price for even 4 of the 14 night, I'd like a little control over the resort.

Secondly, I like the flexibility of being able to cancel/change my trip in case something comes up or a better discount comes out. I also like knowing that if I absolutely hate my resort, I can change to another. This isn't the case with this pin, as there are no modifications/cancellations. I would be really upset if I booked this code, only to find a couple weeks later a better discount for our family, such as free dining or the 4 for 3 deal. I think it's going to be interesting how Disney handles complaints regarding this deal and a disliking for the resort that guests end up at....If people learn that if they complain enough than can get moved from the resort they got to the one they wanted, it defeats the purpose of the discount, but on the other hand, if this is someone's trip that they saved a long time for and they truly hate the resort and have had nothing but problems and there's no flexiility in moving, it's not going reflect well on Disney either.

And lastly, I think all of these discounts, promotions, pins are starting to cheapen Disney's brand and irritate a lot of people. I keep seeing, if they don't offer free dining in this month, or a good promo during this time, we're not going. IMO, it's worse now than it's ever been with new pins and discounts coming out every week and only to certain people, it's confusing to plan and know what's the best discount, what applies to you and it's frustrating when a pin comes out for your dates and you don't get it. Before, you knew free dining was in Aug/Sept and that was it, so you weren't playing these games of if this I can afford that or if that I can afford this. Now you're throwing in a whole new wrench. I know that we're in the minority here, but we're planning either a late Oct or late Jan trip, and we've all but decided to just stay offsite. I refuse to do value again after our fiasco earlier this year, but I also refuse to pay full price for a moderate knowing that odds are, there's going to be some sort of discount. I'm tired of playing the Disney discount waiting game so we can plan our dates and book our airfare around their discounts, so I think I'll book elsewhere where I don't have to play these games.

The free dining public offers have not been released till July.

Free dining PINs were released sooner. The public offer is often similar to the PIN offer which is released first. Last year, for example... there were fall free dining pins circulating in May... and then it became a public offer in July. So I'm curious, has anyone gotten any free dining pins for this fall?

I wouldn't be surprised either way. Wouldn't be surprised to see a free dining offer, wouldn't be surprised to see it skipped.

In terms of demand, it is known that the moderate hotels are the last to fill up.
So this offer lets Disney move some people up from value to the moderate, and then be able to still sell that value at full price, or nearly full price, later down the road.

But I would certainly hope that most people taking this offer, would go in with the assumption that they will in all likelihood get a value resort.

I think the disappointed people.... will be people who lock into this offer, and then can't take advantage of free dining if its offered later.
Those people might be downright mad.

That makes a little more sense now. But...

I'd say for Disney veterans or those who have really researched and planned well, I would agree. However, I think there are many people who would see this offer and jump at it, not realizing that it may not be the best offer that may be available and they may not get what they are hoping for. Not everyone who goes to WDW obsessively plans like us. ;)

Very true. We do get kind of cranky when you take away free dining. :lmao:

When I called to price out this PIN, the rate on Friday was discounted too...something like $73. It appeared that there was some percentage of a discount on ALL days...maybe???

The offer sounds great if you planned on staying at a value resort. However we have no intention of ever staying at a value, so the offer has zero appeal.

I think this is a terrible offer with too many restrictions. I would only consider such an offer if it were under $50/night. Then I would take a chance. maybe.

Today, I found out I have a 30% off resort rate pincode that's two days old according to the CM. It's good for Oct.10 thru Dec.22 excluding Thanksgiving week. What interested me on this offer was the fact that it was 30% across the board on all resort levels. I do find this offer appealing for values. I only have until July 1 to take the offer. That's not a very long time to decide.

I don't have any restrictions; so, I will probably do it and see if I can get a better offer to come. I have nothing to lose with locking in this offer and hoping for something better to come along.
