What does everyone do the day they switch resorts on a split stay reservation?

We hit a park at RD. But when we hit a park we like to do a midday break by the pool or in our room. The last two times our room wasn’t ready until after 3. We do the parks bagless so carrying swimsuits and pool stuff doesn’t work for us. We also despise changing in the lockers so that’s not happening. So no pool break on moving day for us. And since the room wasn’t ready we found other places to rest a bit but it annoyed us.

Next trip it’ll just be myself and DD. I won’t be doing a split stay. When my SO and I go alone we may do a split stay but I will make moving day a relaxing day. Wake up late, check out at exactly 11 am, hit a park or go to an ADR. But with my luck that’ll be the one time the room is ready early. :rotfl:
Yes it is annoying when your waiting on your room. We arrived at Poly once and had to wait for our room. We ate thinking that would pass enough time to be able to go to our room. Nope🙄. I really don’t like to go to the pool unless I’m dressing in our room and have a room to return to afterwards.

Even though I knew I could be waiting I was still annoyed. Not at Disney but at myself because I wanted to relax.

Last trip we hit DHS, had lunch, still no text, went to Epcot, DD was complaining that she wanted to rest, got a FP for soarin then got our room ready text around 3:30. But then we had to wait for our bags. So then we had to wait to shower and get refreshed for our evening plans.

I also hate packing and unpacking. And I’m one of those that gets fully unpacked when I stay at a hotel. I use a lot of toiletries so I need them out. I hate digging through luggage for my stuff.

So for any future split stays moving day will be different

Rope drop park, hang out at park, hang at pool, go to water park, golf, go to arcade, wander around, eat, see a movie. Last thing I do is sit around waiting for my room.

I habitually split stay. Doing a four resorter eom.

Just so I am clear, if you drop your bags and items off to Bell services in the morning and tell them which resort you’re transferring to, they will physically transfer your things to the new resort for you? Then you can pick them up at the Bell services at the new resort when you get there later that day?

Thanks -Dan

Yeah I don’t want to sit around waiting on our room. I think we will go to AK or MK

They will take them but it can take all day. I’ve dropped them off before 9 am and still didn’t receive them until 5 pm or so.

I’m trying to figure out what we should do. We are doing a split between CBR/CCV. Our day to change resorts is on a Wednesday. I was thinking MK in the morning before check in. Check in is at 4:00. We would like to have some time to enjoy the CCV resort the first day.
I hate to waste a park ticket on a half a day. Then again I hate to not go to a park on Wednesday since it is one of the lowest crowded days of the week.
if we go to MK another day we would have to buy a 1 day ticket. Right now we have a 4 park magic ticket which is entry to each of the 4 parks once.
What would you do and what do you usually do on the day you change resorts?
Go to the parks after they take our luggage.

We pack the bags for bell service, go about our day, and bags magically appear in our next room. Love it. For us not differnt than any other day except you just remember to go to the correct resort. lol

Yes hope we remember to go to the next resort lol. I can see us getting on the bus for CBR and forgetting 😂

Would an afternoon swim work for you if you wore your bathing suits under your clothes? Of course you wouldn’t have dry things to wear until your room was available, but you could still swim.

No. That would be uncomfortable for us. Plus we would still need sunblock and other things.

We’re ok not doing a split stay for next trip. My daughter found it annoying just to have to pack again. Since it’ll be just us two I’m good with it. SO and I want to go alone in the next few years. He wants to try the GF so I’m sure we will do a split stay then since the Epcot resorts are our favorites. He goes with the flow and will be fine with it. We will just adjust what we do on moving day. We never do DS so maybe that’ll be a day to have a nice meal at DS and explore it.

Do pool, relax. Also check with the resort. I was lucky that my room was ready at noon. With them not as busy as pre covid you might get lucky.

We are doing our first split stay in May...do we have to provide any kind of prenotification to Bell Services that we will be moving or do we just bring our bags down the morning of the location switch? Just want to be sure if we have to send any kind of information prior that we don't drop the ball on that. Thanks!

We have a no park day. We sleep in have a leisurely morning, leave the room at 11. Send our luggage to the new resort then we go do mini golf and have a wander around DS. We head to the new room about 4pm and have dinner out

If you want to spend the full morning at the first resort i have had a lot of success requesting a late check out. Having done the split stay many times I found the key is not to pack the morning of the move except for what you need. If you are not careful you can feel like you loose the full day getting ready to leave one place and then unpacking in the new resort. Caution if you are moving a lot of stuff and groceries to a value I have had a few bad experiences. Once they said they put everything in the room but had not put anything. Took my discussion with a manager to get them to find it. Another time they told me, on a solo trip, that I had to pick up everything at bell services, groceries included, and bring it to my room myself if I did not want to wait until four hours later or possibly the next day........Had to get a manager to action this again. Never had an issue on split stay with any moderate or AKL YC BC WL

Will bell services transfer your luggage from one resort to the next? We're planning a split DVC stay (which we've never done before).

Can we give our luggage/stuff to bell services on checkout day and tell them which resort we are checking into later that day so that it gets delivered there?

Thanks.

Dan

Yes, and this is what we do. We drop our bags at bell services or have it picked up if we are far from them. Then we head to a park or waterpark until closer to 4pm.

Unlike ME, they usually will not put your bags in your room at your new resort so you have to ask bell services to send it down after you get your room number.

We usually will pack our bags the night before, schedule a bell services pick up and then head off to a park. Usually I’ll try to pick a park close to the resort we are moving to but not really necessary as you can get to any resort from any park

We did the four park challenge the day we switched resorts. Started in AK over to HS stopped in Boardwalk to see if our room was ready, it was. Headed over to Epcot and finished the night at MK. It was very nice that our room was ready mid day at Boardwalk so we didn't need to wait and figure out our luggage late at night.

Well DD and I were just discussing our next trip. I asked her about doing a water park and she said it depends on the resort we stay at. If we stay at POFQ (as an example) she would want to go to a water park but if we stay at BC/BCV she would skip a water park. I then told her the only way I could justify BC would be to do bc a split stay and rent points at BCV. She said she’s all for that. So now I guess I’ll be doing what I said earlier if we can rent points. A relaxing morning with something easy going during the day.
