I'm finally getting every hammered out for my trip! One thing I've wanted to try though is cream brulee (sp?) I've never had it before & neither have any friends or family. To be honest, I've never really even seen it on many menus either around here. What exactly does it taste like? I've noticed on Disney menus, they seem to have different flavors. Does anyone have a favorite one or an idea of where to grab it there? :yay:

is one of my favorite desserts. Traditionally it is a vanilla flavored custard. The brulee part comes from the igniting of sugar sprinkled on top. This gives the dessert texture and a slight smoky, sweet taste. Probably my favorite flavor was hazelnut but that was not at WDW. I also had a traditional vanilla with fruit at the bottom that added a little tartness to each bite. It's common to see it served with some berries sprinkled on top.

If you tend to like certain flavors then go with those. I don't think I have encountered a well made brulee that I did not like.

My favorite was maple at LeCellier but they don't have it anymore. They now have a berry that was very good.

The pistacchio at Jiko was very good.

Chef de France and Le Cellier have Creme Brulee. Not sure about any other restaurants. I want to say Maple flavor was one of the choices at Le Cellier. I haven't met a Creme Brulee I didn't like, yum...:thumbsup2

Allison, was there any other choice besides berry? Maple was my favorite too!!!

Creme Brulee is my very favoritest dessert. For some reason they don't serve it around here so it's a special thing when we go to Disney.

My favorite was the vanilla one from Le Cellier, but ALL the ones I had were scrumptious.

*sigh* creme brulee. It's very creamy but very light at the same time, and simply melts in your mouth. Almost tastes like the creamiest, most sinful cross between mousse and pudding (san gelatin) imaginable. When the standard version is done right, it's made with vanilla bean, and you can find tiny flecks of it inside the dessert. The caramelized crust on top is very important. I can't stand it when you get one that's been sitting around or refrigerated so it's gotten wet, or worse, soft again. It should crack under your spoon. Tastes differ, but I like my crust darker to give that little toffee-ish bite.

Personally my favorite is the standard vanilla. I can tell you this -- the one at Boulangerie Patisserie in France is awful. Tastes like they put gelatin in it and made it with half-and-half.

Take an aspirin for your heart and go try one TODAY :thumbsup2

My favorite is the pistachio creme brulee with the chocolate bottom at Jiko.

It reminded me of those little cups of baked egg custard, while it was not gross I didn't care for it. But I can say I have tried it..

I think I've tried every creme brulee at WDW. :rotfl: My favorite is at Yachtsman Steakhouse. It's the traditional nonflavored.

And here's a pic of the pistacchio one from JIKO:

Please disregard FlatSharon in the pics. She was a stowaway on our most recent trip.

If you would like to try one with out sitting down for a meal, stop by the pastery shop in france. I think, it was a vanilla flavor and it was definately good!

at Fulton's Crab House, Downtown Disney area. Fulton's is not on the dining plan - but in my opinion, it's decadent and fabulous. I love the traditional vanilla but the chocolate was the best I have ever had. The top is not as "crunchy" as other places - which is fine with us.

You can get the recipe through the internet - Levy restaurants. I have made it at home and tastes the same.

Years ago I had the Butterscotch Creme Brulee at the California Grill. It was my first experience with Creme Brulee, and it was amazing! Creme Brulee has become my favorite dessert, and I like to try it everywhere, no matter the flavor. Some places serve it warm, which I think is better. But nothing has ever been as good as that Butterscotch Creme Brulee at the California Grill. Does anyone know if it's still there?

I'd definitely have to say the creme brulee at Chefs de France was the best I've had there. Except for the one they had at the California Grill. -sigh- I miss it.

Literal translation...burnt cream. Good stuff, vanilla custard with a carmalized sugar top.
