reading up on the FL rates and people able to book concierge really cheap, etc...but wondering what does Concierge actually mean and get you?

bigger rooms I understand...

food? Isn't there food all over the ship anyway?

what other perks?

thanks

On the newer ships they have a special lounge but not on the Wonder and Magic. Earlier bording times and an earlier chance to schedule things like Palo and a cabana.

Reservations at Paolo even though the web site showed no times available except the first evening at 6:00 pm.
Reservations at Remy - none available according to the web site
Chocolate covered Strawberrys
A cabana reservation on Serenity beach - again the web site showed none available
A reception with Mickey Mouse so we could have our picture taken with him and not have to wait in a line that was at least 30 minutes long each time he was out

These are just a few things the staff helped arrange on our most recent cruise.

Some things I can think of for the Dream:
o has their own check in line and waiting area at Port Canaveral
o Ability to be the first group to board the ship
o rooms ready earlier. Ours was ready at 12:45
o luggage in room earlier. Ours was in the room
around 1:15.
o Bathrobes and slippers for the adults
o Arcade Cards for the kids
o Bowl of fruit in our room on first day
o Refrigerator filled with H2O, coke, diet coke and sprite. We could get more up in the Lounge.
o Happy hour before each dinner seating.
o snacks through the day
o access to a concierge lounge on deck 12
o access to a private concierge deck on deck 13
o the concierge hosts gave us a 16x20 lithograph.
o Private meet and greet with a Disney character on the "At Sea" day. This takes place on the concierge deck. The hosts don't know who it will be until the character shows up. Ours was Goofy.
o I think you can have Palo/Remy service in your room but it might only be for the Walt/Roy Disney suites??
o They have breakfast up in the lounge on disembarkation day till 8:45. We did this instead of showing up at Animator's Palette at 6:45am which was our assigned time.
o once you board you are taken up to the concierge lounge. The hosts present you with your itinerary, review it and are able to help book/change shore excursions.
o Reps for Palo/Remy, kids club and the Spa are there to assist you with new reservations/changes. This is better than having to go to 3 different areas of the ships.
o access to the cabanas. Even though on-line showed the cabanas were sold out, we were offered a Cabana for both days at Castaway Cay.

That's all I can think of for now.

On the Dream/Fantasy, only the Walt/Roy can get Palo for room service. Neither the Walt or Roy can get Remy's. The one bedrooms and the Royals can get MDR room service. On the Magic/Wonder, I believe they allow both the two bedroom suites and the Royals to have Palo delivered.

Just to make it worse, I am posting pictures of the Roy Suite. I am going in a regular verandah room this time and am nearly in tears because I know the difference now. My family wanted to know if we could sell our house and live in this room instead. Ignore the first set of pictures. That's our pre-cruise. The deck that you see is not the open deck, it's the verandah for the Roy Suite. It's insane!

Wow! Your own hot tub?!! Nice!

I know, crazy right? I honestly didn't have a chance to get in because I was herding children the entire time. But they really liked it. When concierge saw us coming back to the room to rest in the afternoon they came immediately to get smoothie and ice cream orders for the kids! I can't say enough nice things about them.

The new verandah is a HUGE improvement over the ones on the Magic and Wonder. Makes them just like the ones in the Owner's Suites & Villas on NCL. But I absolutely don't like that the Walt & Roy on the Dream and Fantasy no longer have a second bedroom. I think that was a major fail.

Be REALLY REALLY nice if they'd add a concierge pool on the Dream and Fantasy, too. That was such a plus on NCL.

I can't find concierge rooms discounted, but I'm not from Florida so I probably just don't know where to look. Not that it matters because I am a poor schmuck that has to fly in so I have to pay full price

Other than the FL Resident rates, does DCL ever discount ANY room? Oh...Military, too.
That's not meant to be a slam....just an honest question/statement.

There are the restricted IGT, OGT, VGT rates. For the first time this summer there were some great discounts for DCV members.
No discounts, including military and Florida, on concierge.

What are IGT, OGT and VGT?

Oops...never mind...figured it out. Inside, Outside and Verandah GTY?

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of already having a room booked, prices dropping, and being able to get OBC or cash for the difference, like some cruise lines. Or discounted rates as the sail date gets closer. Disney doesn't do that, unless I'm mistaken. On ANY room, not just concierge.

With regards to Florida residents rates and concierge being discounted- the rates for FL residents are really low for some cruises. If some of the people book for these rates, then upgrade at port, their concierge rates will be unbelievably low! I expect to see more pictures people!!! The least you can do is share your joy!!
Downside perhaps? Very full cruise, very full concierge. I read a thread that concierge quality MAY be diminished with numerous cabins full. It's a personal opinion, though, as most things are here on DIS.
