When someone has not gotten a response or would like more they "bump" the thread so that it goes back to the top of the page and does not get overlooked.

Just like that! Seriously, typing anything will move the post to the top. Typing the word "bump" lets people know there is no new information, just moving the thread up.
sometimes - if you type a question or an inquiry, it doesn't get a response - - then after a few hours it's way down on the thread - people don't see it -- then you (the original poster) can bump it so that you put it back to the top to see if someone will reply to it....
