what does "BUMP" mean

I see "BUMP" in a lot of posts, can somebody tell me what it means...thanks

When you post a new response to a thread, it gets "Bumped" to the top of the list of threads. More people are likely to see a thread at or near the top.

Sometimes people have nothing new to add to a discussion, but want new responses. So they "Bump" the thread to the top of the list.

Also, on the DVC Rent/Trade board, users are required to bump their thread at least once every 7 days to keep it active. This indicates their Rent/Trade 'ad' is still valid.

If not bumped at least once every 7 days, software automatically closes and locks the thread.

Do you then hit "reply" and post the word bump? Or do you have to quote your earlier post in the bump reply? I'm confused and don't want to look like a dope!

I would only type "bump" if I had nothing to add.

If I wanted to get back to the original question, I would re-state the question. The process of fyping any response would get the thread back to the top, and the next few readers would see the question re-stated.
