Ok so I've known about this concert for weeks, but now that it's tonight I'm having an anxiety attack over what to wear! I loved hair bands in high school, saw every concert I could, but um, well, I wouldn't be caught dead today in the things I wore back then. I have to get ready in a few hours & can't decide - help! My DS11 offered me his black skull Vans skate shoes to wear - and they're actually kinda cool - I'm thinking that & jeans & a black tank top with a black hoodie over it?? OMG now what purse to take? I guess my Vera Bradley isn't going to cut it tonight huh...

I haven't been to a heavy metal concert in over 10 years. I have no idea if the crowd will be young, old or mix. I'm going more out of curiosity than anything - it's Adler's Appetite - Steven Adler's band - the ex-Guns & Roses drummer. I watched him on Celebrity Rehab last year & now on Sober House. They are a cover band & do all GnR music, which I do like.

What am I getting myself into??

You're gonna have a great time! I still go all the time. I wear jeans and dont take a pocketbook. Last concert I took my 15 year old to see Motley Crue. He said they were too loud.:lmao: Have fun!

Sounds fun! My son is in a band and when we go to his shows I am sure we stick out like a sore thumb and yes I have even carried my Vera Bradley!!! Jeans and a t-shirt sounds good. Have a great time.

You wear jeans and a shirt that you won't sweat in. It will get really hot.Don't bring a pocketbook in.
Have a great time. I'm trying to talk my husband into going to Poison Def Lep in June.

Jeans & a shirt. Wear the Vans if you can. (I'm a Converse girl and have several to choose from.) Carry the Vera....my Night Owl bag has been to lots of shows!

I agree - jeans, a t-shirt, no purse. Only an old lady would bring her purse to a metal concert. ;)

ROFL I've got the peacock mini hipster - very bright! Night Owl is much more subdued! I don't want to take a purse but I have nothing else for camera, ID, cell, lipgloss, etc.

I'm taking my teens to see Motley Crue next week. I plan to wear jeans, black boots with a small heel and a t-shirt.

I always wear jeans and a t-shirt to concerts.

Already have my tix for that one!

Don't forget to wear nice undergarments so you can hurl them onstage :rotfl:

I go to about 6-7 heavy metal concerts a year (and not the hairbands but the real heavy groups). I'll wear my Vera Bradley I don't care. I'm not going to change who I am. I'll wear my J. Crew. :lmao:

Vans are pretty flat. As a rule....me being a short person....I always wear a boot with a little heel to a concert. Increases my chances of seeing what I'm hearing. :thumbsup2 Have fun. I say, just be real casual and do NOT carry the purse!

Good point. I'm now thinking maybe a small black backapck - my other issue is that its raining hard & you have to park a few blocks away from the place....I will have to have an umbrella - and then someplace to stash it or I'll be holding it all night....grrr....

Don't bring a back pack to the show, they might not let you in or they may confiscate. Do you have a hobo type handbag..something cute? That would be fine.

You guys are killing me! Yes I have a small black hobo bag - with metal grommets on it - total rocker BUT short strap so it will hang on my shoulder - not sure I want that either....now it's raining...OMG I have to walk a few blocks from parking to the place - now what to do with the umbrella??!

I'm way too old to be this stressed out over this!!

Oh and to the OP about being short with the Vans...I'm barely 5 feet tall & I agree I looked even shorter with the Vans on. I opted for knee-high chocolate brown suede boots with a wedge heel....for now anyway...hey maybe I can stick the umbrella down the side of my tall boots while I'm inside...

Better yet I can take a huge Vera Bradley tote & wear it over my head while I walk in....

I'm so confused!

When I revisit my high school bands (often - I drag DH) I pretty much always wear:

black jeans
shoe with small heel but good soles (bathroom floors get slippery - ugh!)
Previous tour T-shirt for the band - everyone knows I'm a longtime fan by my age anyway

If I don't have a band-specific tee then I go with something with a tiny bit of sparkle to show I can still rock! For instance, I have a v-neck that has one row of sequins around the neck that match the color of the shirt - a little step up, but certainly not "too much." :cool2:

I do carry a small, plain black purse - I always drive so I've gotta carry the "big keys, "wallet, etc. :lmao:
