I have read that some of you get pins that give you a nice upgrade... what does it look like? Does it come in an email or snail mail? I want to keep my eyes open in case one comes my way....

Both and all of the above. I have also called and asked a cm if are tied to my address & name.
Good luck:thumbsup2

I've received them via email and snail mail. The key thing to look out for is that both come from "Disney Destinations". They're typically colorful, spell out some offer of a room discount, free dining, or kids are free etc. and how to book via online and by phone along with a 15-digit code (5-digits space 5-digits space 5-digits). It will also be personalized with your name (e.g. Congratulations xxx family).

People on this board have occasionally had luck calling WDW and asking if there was a PIN code associated with their name.

A PIN will look like some sort of room discount offer, or it could be for free dining. It's a deal of some sort, and will say somewhere on it "Have your PIN Code ready when calling to book" and list a long number. That number is unique to you and only you can book that offer.

PIN stands for Personal Identification Number - it's not a pin to physically pin on something. Just to clarify.

I have never received anything in the mail or in my email, BUT, when we called to inquire about some rates, we asked if we had a PIN associated with our name - and we DID!!! (We wouldn't have even known it if we didn't call and ask!)

Unfortunately, the PIN was for dates we couldn't use, but still - good to know you might have one even if you don't receive anything in the mail or in your email! I hope you get one! :goodvibes

Mine have come both snail mail and e-mail from "Disney Destinations."

Sometimes you have to scroll all the way down to get to the part about the discount. And there is usually a code like "LPG1" for values, "LPG2" for moderates, etc.

This. It's not usually for an upgrade, however, sometimes people receive emails saying they can upgrade to such and such hotel for XX dollars. It's usually a nominal amount of money and seems like a pin, but I don't think it is.

I've received one through my email and then another time I found out I had one when I called and asked if there were any pins attached to my name. There was and I never received notification of it. So definitely ask if you are calling to book!

These sound like discount codes (usually no better than what's available publicly)...not so much like the longggg "pin" codes.

I've received both email and snail-mail pins, and as you can see in my signature, I haven't been in years, nor have I been there frequently. I guess they want the XXXXXX family back!

Both times I received PIN codes it came as email from Disney Destinations. The one I just received said it was good on travel dates in September which is when I was pricing a trip on the Disney website. When I called to book, they told me it was open for year long dates.
Good Luck! pixiedust:
