I'm a new DVC member and am ready to book our 2015 stay. Not sure what lock-off means?

A 2-Bedroom Lock-Off is a Studio and a 1-Bedroom with an interior connecting door. The Studio becomes the second bedroom. Studios at OKW will have 2 Queen Beds, all others have a Queen Bed and a Sleeper Sofa.

A "Dedicated" 2 BR means that there are 2 Queens in 2nd br...

2 Br lock off is really is 2 separate units, one is a 1 BR and the other is a 1 Br studio...With the doors open, it is a 2Br..

When booking, I have always preferred the 2BR dedicated because the 2nd BR has 2 queens.. We have Older sons and they obviously sleep separate in two separate beds...We only had a 2 BR lockoff once, on our most recent Aulani vaca, so they "switched" off the pull out sofa in the 2nd bedroom.

Hope that helps!:thumbsup2

Enjoy planning!:dance3:

The lockoff is nice if you are traveling with another family and still want to keep a little privacy. When we travel with my parents, we do the lockoff so they get their own studio. We prefer 1BRs so the lockoff is perfect. It's cheaper than booking a studio and 1BR separately and we are guaranteed to be next to each other.

We rented three 2BRs for a family gathering and opted to have one of them be a lock off so DH and I could have a studio with a couch versus two beds. We enjoy sitting on the couch versus sitting on a bed and since the family we shared the two bedroom with often had different sleeping hours than us it worked out well that we each had our own exterior doors to enter the villa.

A lock-off also has a kitchenette in the studio room and a separate thermostat to control the AC/Heat.
