A passport is not necessary on the eastern and western carribean cruises (not sure about that repositioning cruise!) Since you have a passport, use it instead of the birth certificate.
It really did make things smoother at the airport and with check-in a the port, as they are issued by the federal government.
Since you have since married you will need a certified copy of your marriage license. As far as how quickly you can get this, I think that depends on where you live. Around here it's done the same day if you appear at the town clerk's office yourself. I would just get it done as soon as possible and put it with the passport.
