What do your little children wear (clothing) while visiting WDW?

The whole family wears Disney shirts from previous visits or from the Disney store. We don't wear matching shirts... yet maybe next trip.

We do the custom outfits too while we are at Disney. I'm not a sewer so I got mine off Ebay and even some of the Disboutiquers on here. Try searching on Ebay for resells. I'm getting ready to sell all of our outfits from the last 2 trips and I bought some resells prior to our trip.

The shirts in this picture I made myself.

The brightest, most noticeable colors I can find, preferably in wicking fabrics or lightweight woven cottons.

I don't dress for cute or for photos (well, cute is nice, but it comes in a definite third in priority), I dress for ease of finding in crowds, and also for quick drying if they get wet (and with my kids, they ALWAYS get wet.) Cotton knits tend to dry quite slowly, so I avoid them where possible.

What can I say -- I'm relentlessly practical.

On our trip last year, I did our boys a couple t-shirt/short combos to wear. I wanted to see if they like them. Boy did they ever!

We are going again this year, and my 4 year old has requested several different theme shirts. He wants his 18 month old brother to match so I am working on coordinating outfits so that they aren't always wearing the exact same things. We are scheduled for a few character meals so I am working on outfits for those first, and hopefully I can work on a couple more t-shirt/short combos for the parks too. My boys love wearing their character themed clothes to their preschool too. They get lots of attention from their teachers and friends.

I'm another one who makes outfits for DS or buys a themed one. And when I say "make", I mean the iron on transfers with the help from the great people on the DISigns board. last year, we had family matching mickey shirts, disney family shirts and something else I can't remember. I also made cute disney bibs for DS. DH refuses to do it this year, so I'm just doing it for DS and this is what i have mapped out so far:

Ohano breakfast - hawaiin shirt with a stitch applique on it
CRT breakfast - A tshirt saying "Hi my name is Isaac, may I be your prince charming?" on it with prince charming and all of the princesses
EPCOT - a tshirt saying "Isaac and Nemo swimming through epcot" with a picture of spaceship earth and Nemo - my son is on a Nemo kick right now
MGM - tshirt with Isaac and hot dog dance for playhouse disney
AK - I found a great mickey safari outfit from Kmart for $3.49
Halloween Party - I'm bringing a skeleton pirate costume I bought from disney store for $9.99 but, if it's too hot, I'm bringing a back up of a tshirt that looks like jack skellington's suit and I'm going to make up his face either way. DH and I are wearing nightmare before christmas tshirts too.
I'm still trying to figure out Hoop de Doo Revue.

I just wanted to make a point for someone new who might be reading this and thinking that they need take out a loan and take time to create a Disney wardrobe for their trip - you don't!

The majority of people don't dress up. I've seen maybe a handful (if that) over an entire week. I have young DDs, and I haven't given their clothing a second thought (we have been twice with them). I feel like they are just lucky to be there!

The most that my DDs did was wear princess costumes to our princess meals (and those had previously been worn as Halloween costumes - they were not purchased only for our Disney trip). And even then, they wore their costumes for maybe 3 hours the first time and just for the meal the second time (those dresses squish into almost nothing easily into a ziploc with the air squeezed out - easy to carry in a suitcase and in a backpack at the park).

My SIL had "theme" clothing for her kids, which seems fairly easy (again, I don't really want to put this much thought into it after planning ADRs, touring plans, etc.) They just wore colored clothing according to the park - red/white/black at MK, animal prints at AK, etc. (I really don't remember more than that.) If you think that you want to dress your kids up, simple things are probably already in your kids' wardrobes.

I just didn't want someone reading this thread and feeling inadequate.

Do your children visit WDW decked out in Disney themed clothing? Or do they just wear regular every day clothing?

Etsy is pulling me in fast & hard... so many adorable Disney customs! I could seriously buy something for the girls to wear each day. Of course, that would mean $$$$ and DH would not be too thrilled about that. I know for sure my oldest girl will be getting an Ollie Girl dress to wear on her birthday while we do BBB and a princess meal. And I'll probably get one for younger DD to wear, just because, even though she'll be too young for BBB and probably not "into" the princesses yet.

I just wanted to let you know that thanks to you I am now poor. I bought my very first custom off etsy. It's a finding Nemo outfit (sundress and embellished jeans). DD can wear it to Epcot and maybe to the Nemo show at AK (wish the show was at Epcot b/c now I have to make up some sort of excuse to do Epcot and the Nemo show at AK on the same day to pacify the park hopping for dh ~ our regular AK day I want to do something with animal print).

I am going to try to make a Cinderella dress for 1900 Park Fare -- wish me luck. I think I can do it, it will just be time consuming.

And I have a couple of other favorites marked on etsy as well. Shhhhh! Don't tell my dh ~ he doesn't need to know how much money I'm spending on dd. Thankfully ds will be less expensive and I can just get some iron on embroidery patches for his polos or t's.

If you can sew a straight line and own a sewing machine, try making something yourself! Here is one set I made for last year's trip.

Now that we have two kids, I am totally getting sucked into this. I really want to make Mickey applique shirts like these, but I don't know if I can. I have a sewing machine, but I hardly ever use it.

We don't live to far from each other, I am in Keller. Anyway, if you look on the dosboutique thread, on the front page, there are bookmarks to tutorials for appliques. It is not too hard, just takes practice. You have to buy Heat N Bond lite (it is at walmart). Iron it onto the fabric you want to applique, the cut out your shape, then iron it on to the t-shirt. Then use a zigzag stitch to sew it on. Practice the stick width/length to get what you want on a scrap first. Good luck!
