my mom said it is about "respect" for the Dr, I do not want to offend my dr, but I really just want to wear SNEAKERS. lol. I doubt he will notice but I just cannot break the habit of dressing up. lol. Silly.

Your mom made you dress up for the doctor's? That is the craziest thing I ever heard.![]()
I agree. There are a great number of things that people do (have done; will do) that are artifacts of a time, not structurally or qualitatively relevant/significant, but rather culturally/anthropologically relevant/significant. One example that comes to mind is how women used to wear white gloves as part of formal attire. Another example that comes to mind is one I mentioned in another thread, a couple of weeks ago, about how the AMC television series Mad Men dramatized how the emotions children in grief were often badly marginalized by the prevailing sentiments of the time. We can readily come up with dozens of examples of things that weren't really important/constructive, except with regard to the significance people of that time chose to ascribe to those things, or simply prevailing sentiment.I don't think it's crazy at all. I think it is a "generational" thing.
I generally look worse at the doctor's office than anywhere else. If I'm there, it's because I don't feel good. If I don't feel good, than dressing up is the last thing that I want to do.
Whatever I happen to be wearing that day. Since my childbearing yearsI've been to over 100 appointments - can't see dressing up, especially since you strip down before you actually see the doctor!
