What do you wear to this wedding?

Well first, who said it was formal? If it were your nephew or any other guy, other than a very fashion-forward one, formal could mean no jeans.

I'd wear a comfortable sundress type dress.

Formal means long dresses & dark suits for the men...if not a tux. I would call your Nephew's mother & find out what they mean by formal.

If you are going to be on sand you can wear flats

Regardless of who told you "formal", my DD and I would wear cute, light sundresses with flat sandals and DH would wear khaki's with a polo.

DS would wear a pair of khaki dress shorts and a polo.

Frankly, if the bride tells you she wants formal clothing for that type of wedding, I wouldn't be going. Formal clothes at a cabin wedding are crazy.
