What do you wear on the plane?

I wear either loose fitting elasticated waist trousers or leggings with a vest and cardi.

I generally wear the heaviest outfit on my return so save luggage space :0)

I also take socks in my carry on because they sometimes make me take my sandels off in security and I don't want my bare feet to rich the floor. It freaks me out.

I wear the cardi a lot in the evenings when the air conditioning is too cold!

For me treggings and a sports vest with inbuilt bra and a cardigan or hoodie over the top no metal zips no belts no jewellery and sandals or trainers that I can just slip out of when needed, DH wears loose fit trousers and a t-shirt with trainers DS similarly dressed and they are usually ok. We have both been stopped and searched before so the less metal you have upon your person the better especially with the new body scanners make sure all your pockets are empty folks they get really snippy over tissues and gum in your pockets or hands. I have scar tissue in my right shoulder that US TSA officers were sure was a concealment until I was patted down and could prove I had nothing to hide, DH has burn scars over the top half of his body from burns as a baby so he often gets stopped and patted down too...keep your clothing simple and remember to put extra tops in the hand luggage or in the trays when you get to the security checks and you will be fine. I keep my jewellery in my hand luggage until I get to my hotel.

I will definitely make sure all our pockets are empty then.
I hadn't thought about taking toothbrushes and toothpaste but I think I will add that to the list for the hand luggage. I hate it when my teeth feel dirty.

You can buy tiny little tubes of toothpaste from Boots or Superdrug and look out in pound shops for cheapy toothbrushes on offer that you can just throw away when you get home. You'll thank me

Thanks I have a couple of tiny tubes that we got as free samples from the dentist so I'm thinking I might pack those. :goodvibes

That's exactly what we do with ours...get about 10 uses out of one little tube, which isn't bad.

Footwear - I haven't really totally considered yet. I agree with a pp that says it's best to wear sturdy/comfy footwear in case of emergency and something not too tight as feet tend to swell. I usually wear pump type shoes - converse or something. I may go for skechers 'go walks' which I haven't bought yet but do intend to in the next month or so. I also intend getting them for the girls - so again, they may wear those on flight or trainers with trainer socks.

I think it just depends what you are comfortable in tbh. Everyone is different but I would suggest a lightweight hoodie or layer for you all just in case![/QUOTE]

do you need to buy the sketchers go walks next month for any reason?? i got mine there and they were sooo much cheaper than here about $35 plus you could also get a 2nd pair half price the sketchers shop was huge

I go for complete comfort. Usually i wear leggings with a vest top and zip up cardy or hoody, with flip flops and i bring a pair of fluffy socks in my handbag xx

We always wear pants, socks and runners, a t shirt and hoodie because planes can get chilly. In a bag for carry on we pack one full change of clothes with sunglasses as well as our daughters sandals. We also pack a water bottle and a small sunscreen. The magical express is heavily air conditioned. We change as soon as we arrive to our hotel and have checked in. If our room is not available yet, we head to the lobby washroom to change and check everything with the bell boy. We then head straight to the park having had everything we need in our back pack.

Hi, Just starting to work out what clothes etc we will need to get and it occurred to me that I have no idea what we should wear on the plane. It's many years since I've been on a plane and the girls have never flown. Obviously it will be summer here when we leave and return but it is not going to be Florida hot so which climate do you usually dress for on travel days? Also is it likely to be chilly on the plane?

Thanks for bearing with my silly questions :rotfl2:

Okay so I don't think yoga pants are appropriate anywhere except a yoga studio/gym so I don't wear them out or on planes. I see lots of warm up pants or fleece type pants, but agian personally I don't wear that type of pants in public either (only because I don't like them as in the way I look in them). Lots of people look fine and find them comfortable.

I stick to jeans/capris and a tshirt. I almost always have a zip up hoodie as well (appropriate to the weather) just incase of runaway air conditioning. I also try to avoid tight clothing.

Leggings are a good choice with a shirt + hoodie. I see tons of girls/women in those.

On way out to Florida, i wear Jean Shorts, Tshirt and trainers :) when i arrive im nice and cool and not sweating the moment i arrive in jeans haha usually from UK flight lands around 3pm local time and its still so hot out!

I wear my sketchers go walks. Easy to slip in and out of, but sturdy enough in case of emergency evacs. (ok the likely hood of a emergency is small but I once watched a 'be prepared' travel thing and they said in case of broken glass, fire, etc. Flip flops and sandals are not safe and it stuck with me).

We're taking a red eye from LAX to MCO arriving around 5:30am Florida time in September. My daughter wears pajamas during the flight as I want her to sleep. And before we land she changes into capris and a t-shirt with hoodie

Last year we took a red-eye and I wore a dark colored sleeveless maxi dress with a high neck and a cardigan. Very warm and comfortable. But still looked presentable.

I always pack warm socks, a big scarf. ( I use the one my husband got me in Qatar) as a blanket of sorts. and a small bag with toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, eye drops, sunblock, comb, lip balm and basic make up so we can all go to the lavatory before we land to change if we need (like my daughter) and freshen up.

On the way back, 20.00(isn) flight, I take a spare long sleeve T shirt in my carry on, a flannel and some hotel soap and a tooth brush/paste. I wash in the airport and change my T shirt cos we stay in the parks until we really really really have to go :(

Thank you all for your advice. :goodvibes

I really want them for going out there and to have 'broken them in' - which in the case of these shoes, doesn't sound like it takes much! We won't be going shopping until we've been there over a week, so it's not an option to buy out there. Thanks for thinking of it though.

Everyone. Today I had 20 minutes to kill in between meetings and found myself in Dorothy Perkins. I don't usually go in this shop but I was freezing. I don't know how to post pics but they have trousers called something like relaxed joggers. Thinner and smarter than trackie bottoms but really soft and comfy. My point. Perfect for wearing on the plane! I had two pairs :)
