What do you wear on the plane to Florida?

I haven't flown in years and have never been to Florida. We are flying from San Francisco on a five hour flight- all day, not over night. I know we won't need jeans or a jacket once we get to Florida, but I know SFO is chilly and my memory of planes is that they are too. I hate to bring things I don't need, but I don't want to be cold before I get there, and I tend to get cold easily.

What do you wear on the plane? I'm thinking maybe capris would be a good compromise between pants and shorts. And some sort of jacket or sweatshirt. Any other tips of what to have with us on the plane. No kids, just DH and I.

I always wear khakis. What shirt I wear will depend on the weather on where I'm leaving vs. where I'm going. It could be as simple as a collared shirt, or it could be a turtleneck and hoodie (although I was told wearing a hoodie or other loose fitting shirt = automatic pat down).

Personally I wear shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Starting out in Minnesota I wear sweats and a jacket but take them off either in the airport before I leave or on the plane, It depends on how cold it is at home.

I don't get cold on the plane, but we flew from Buffalo to Orlando in January. We wore jeans on the plane & just changed into shorts @ the airport after landing. Wore tee shirts with sweatshirts over that we removed on the plane. Capris & a jacket would work or have something lighter handy in your carry on for changing into @ the airport.

We left from PA in January. I also get cold on the plane. I wore a sweatshirt on the plane, even though it was only 10 when we left here. I had jeans on. When we went Orlando was on the cool side so we only ventured into capris, no shorts:( If I go in warmer Orlando weather, it is still usually colder here. I will wear some kind of comfy pants on the plane and change at the resort into something from my carryone - capris or shorts. Still have my sweatshirt for the plane and chilly evenings. I tend to visit WDW in November and December. Going through airline check I just put my sweatshirt in a bin to get scanned - no biggie.

I like the idea of bringing shorts on the plane to change in to once there. We are taking the ME bus and won't have our luggage for several hours, or so I've heard.

We are going in June. So home will likely be chilly in the morning. We will arrive around 6pm, but I assume it will still be hot there. Here it can be 100 degrees during the day, but by 5pm it cools off and just gets chilly at night. Am I correct in assuming it doesn't cool off in the evenings at WDW?

You very well might need a jacket in Florida; you should bring a lightweight one with you. I usually wear pants, a long sleeved shirt (you can roll up the sleeves) and comfortable shoes. It can get cold on the plane, especially if you're in an exit row and can also get hot.

I love maxi dresses with a cardigan. Warm and comfy when needed, but can easily lose the cardigan upon arrival. In the middle of winter, I'll throw leggings on underneath when leaving the frozen tundra of home.

Depends what time of year we are going.

December? I wore comfy pants, a tshirt and took a hoodie.

April? I wear comfy shorts and a shirt. Whatever I plan to wear in the park the first day-- since we use Magical Express and don't get the bulk of our luggage until later and don't feel like carrying around alot of stuff.

Seattle has similar weather to SF. What I usually do is wear jean capris, crocs or flip flops, a t-shirt and I bring a hoody.

Don't forget that sometimes it can be cool in the evenings in Florida. Wearing a pair of jeans on the plane so that you have them for late nights might be a wise choice. By wearing the bulkiest pants saves room in the suitcase too.

I always wear a comfortable sweat suit/track suit. This way I can shed the layers when necessary and be comfortable. The short sleeved shirt I wear under the jacket is the one I plan to wear when we get there. Then I change into shorts or capris when I get off the plane and use the restroom. Has worked out pretty well for FL trips in the Spring, where MN weather is certainly colder than FL!

No, I didn't know that.

I was planning on wearing my tennis shoes since my Crocs flats are very light weight and take up less room in the suitcase.

Actually come to think of it, I'll probably need a sweatshirt for the hotel room- DH always keeps the AC up too cold!

We go in September so the weather is not cold but the plane often is. I wear jeans or khakis, short sleeve shirt and a light jacket. I don't change because I don't wear shorts or capris to the park.

Going from PA to FL in winter, I usually wear sneakers, sweat pants, and a hoodie. I don't care if I look like a bum, I care about comfort on the plane.

Going from PA to FL in the summer, I wear flip flops, comfy sweat shorts or capris, and a tshirt. I don't normally get cold on planes.

That's a long flight, dress warmly enough to not freeze on the plane. Throw a pair of shorts in your carry on. I get cold on planes. I wear my tennis shoes and the pair of jeans I am taking on the plane because this are also usually my bulky items. I typical wear a short sleeve light weight top and a second layer that is a long sleeve top. And I change into shorts at the airport. I typically use restroom down on the same level as the Magical Express because they aren't as full.

Thanks for the tip about the bathroom! I wouldn't have known that. I'm normally a cold person and I think a day below 60 degrees is too cold, so I know I would likely get chilly on the plane.

I pretty much always wear jeans, a t-shirt, fleece jacket and sneakers. Change into shorts when we land if the weather warrants it.

I wear capri's and a tee shirt. You could wear a light sweater over a tee shirt if you think you will be cold. Be wearing layers you can remove a layer if you get too warm. And when you get to Florida you won't feel over dressed for the weather.

When we fly down in June, from Boston, I'll be wearing jeans, a long sleeved tee, with a sweatshirt just in case the plane gets chilly...it often does. I usually wear slip on shoes, with socks since I hate walking thru security in bare feet.
In my carry on bag is a short sleeved tee shirt. That gets put on when I get to MCO...the long sleeved one and sweatshirt go in my carry on bag!
I have often been glad I had one pair of jeans with me in WDW. Then, I fly home in that same outfit. But usually wear a short sleeved shirt, with the sweatshirt around my waist.
