What do you use your ipad for?

I am thinking of getting an ipad but am not sure exactly what I can do with it. I have a laptop and a desktop already. Would an ipad be too much? I am thinking of getting it for when I travel for getting online (we have a business and I think that would make it easier for us to take credit cards) and for "fun". Also as an e-reader.

I am wondering what you all use your ipad for?

It is awesome for travel, we take it on all our trips.

Lots of hotels make you pay $10/d for internet access - we just pay the $30 to AT&T for basically unlimited internet for a month. If there is wifi, you can use that instead of 3G.

Games for us to play while waiting in the airport or car rental agency. Or books to read. It's heavier and the screen has more glare than the dedicated ereader, but that's a tradeoff I'm ok with.

Digital photo frame, since most of those that are simply photo frames don't have a battery that allows you to pass the frame around for others to see the pictures.

Play music while getting ready in the morning.

<3 my iPad!

How much internet time do you really get for the $30 a month? I'd be so scared of going over the maximum and having to pay a lot more than that...

I am using mine right now to read the Dis - it is actually my dd's - we love extra Internet source and there is less fighting over the computer. We do not have 3g - we feel the are enough places that have wifi whe we can use it

Use mine mainly as an e-reader and for browsing the Internet (I.e. Getting my DIS fix! :rotfl:). Its also great for the kids - lots of cool apps for them.

I hope you don't mind if I add a question:lovestruc!!

Is an ipad faster then an iphone???? I get really frustrated waiting for my pages to load while I'm surfing the internet on my Iphone!! Does the ipad load webpages faster then the Iphone??

Well I'm currently surfing the DIS :) I also watch movies, listen to music, play games, read email, etc.

I don't use the ereader all that often (I prefer my kindle for that) but I do like downloading People magazine and reading them on the color screen.

I plan on downloading the word processor program here soon so I can type up papers. I have a ZAGGmate cover with a built in keyboard so typing is easier than using the touch keyboard.

I don't have an iPhone to compare it to but in my opinion the pages on the iPad load very fast. Thet load much faster than my netbook does.

It's unlimited internet time for $30. I tried the $15 plan (this is with AT&T, not Verizon) and started to run out of my data allowance (250MB) after 2 weeks, so then upgraded to the $30 plan for the next 30 days. I'd recommend going straight for the $30 plan.

I don't think you can sign up for an unlimited plan anymore. AT&T's website says you can get 250mb for $15 or 2gb for $25.

I believe verizon's options are similar.

I was wondering what the word processor program is called and how much it costs? I don't have a wireless printer, so is there another way that I can print? Would my son be able to type school papers using this program?

It is called "pages" and It costs $10 in the app store. I don't have a wireless printer either but it does have the option to email a document; you can even email it as a Word document if you do not have a Mac computer.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying that. Guess AT&T decided it was too good a deal to let people keep.

I use my Ipad for checking email, storing my photos and sometimes using it as a digital frame. I play games, check the weather in 7 cities each day and have a countdown to our Disney trip. During the day I listen to music through Pandora and at night I play soothing sounds like rain or waves. I use it as an e-reader also. Sometimes I browse the web, but that's usually on my laptop.

If you have your own business, I think it would be a great tool while traveling. And the cost of it is a write off I assume. You'll be surprised how often you'll reach for it.
