What do you use to flavor your water at Disney?

So after reading about the horrible taste of Florida tap water, I'm trying to find something to use to flavor my water while at the parks. I don't typically like "sugar free" things and most artificial sweeteners give me headaches. I'm noticing though, that most flavor sticks ssems to be sugar free! :confused3 Do you have any recommendations for great-tasting, non artificially-sweetened drink mixes? Help me out, please!

I am partial to teas but lemonade and juice mixes are fine as well.

The taste of the water fountains was atrocious! We took fruit punch, and pink lemonade and they didn't dent the taste. I am looking into getting the water bottles that filter water for our next trip. Walmart has them for $8, just my opinion

I agree with the filtered bottles. We've tried using green tea or lemonade mixes and they really don't mask the taste. But the Brita filters seem to do the trick.

The water does taste pretty bad, but I prefer drinking the crap water to the crap water + crap mix in. Honestly, I would invest in a filtering bottle before I would bring mix ins.

My kids and DH don't mind the water...it's just me.

Give Crystal Light Pure a try, if you haven't already. It's sweetened with stevia and a little bit of real sugar (Truvia is the brand name for the blend), rather than the artificial sweeteners in the regular Crystal Light. Low-cal (not no-cal), but it tastes nearly like full-sugar drinks. It comes in lemon-lime, grape, punch, kiwi-strawberry... I carried single-serve packets on our last trip.

I have never noticed an objectionable taste to any water at WDW or Florida in general, until we stayed at Fort Wilderness. Bleh! I would also recommend a Brita filter. They make the new individual water bottles with them built in.

We bring 1/2 gallon, and 2 quart Igloo thermoses with Crystal Light Pink Lemonade made from Spring water purchased, and delivered from Garden Grocer!:goodvibes I should be in advertising....

I never get drinking fountain water as I prefer getting water from CS places as most of the time it is filtered.

There are some exceptions, such as Lunching Pad at MK.

If you don't want anything artificial, why not grab some lemon juice packets and add a bit of lemon juice for flavour.

My DS15 likes to flavor his water and we've found the new Lipton Tea & Honey mixes that are sweetend primarily with honey are pretty good. (DS is a swimmer and needs to stay well hydrated and I will get him anything he likes to keep him drinking water all day.) There is no aspartame in these and they come in several flavors besides the traditional Green Tea with lemon (Strawberry Acai Green Tea; Black Currant Raspberry black tea; Blackberry Pomegranate green tea etc.). Personally I will use a packet here & there but prefer plain unflavored water. I just tried their "Iced Green Tea with Blackberry Pomegranate" flavor & it was OK - but I poured it over ice. These flavored mixes taste a lot better if the water is COLD IMHO. They are :crazy2: if the water is warm which is another reason I don't use them so often. Typically in FL we just get a couple of cases of generic bottled water delivered from Garden Grocer ($6.99 per 32 pack) and that way we have plenty of water over the course of our stay & we're not paying Disney prices to have it - nor does it need to be flavored to be refreshing.

Crystal light or Mio. But we bring our own water bottles into the park in a soft side cooler.

Just a little known fact about Stevia. If you are allergic to ragweed you should use caution when consuming it. Stevia and ragweed are related. I have a major ragweed allergy and get a headache every time I use Stevia. I know several others who have experienced this same effect. So just a heads up on it.

We have used these: http://www.waterbobble.com/ for the last two years and found them to be great! Totally gets rid of the funky smell/taste of Florida water without having to add a bunch of sugar/artificial flavours :thumbsup2

Have fun pixiedust:

I don't like the taste of any of the flavor packets either. I don't like the artificial sweetener, it doesn't give me a headache I just don't like the taste. We take Brita water bottles to park. It takes that odd taste out of the water. I much prefer that to the flavor packets.

We use Mio in regular water bottles or the Brita filter bottles to filter the water. The brita filters are so good that they filter out liquid additives like Mio. I did that once and there wasn't a trace of Mio left in the water.

If you just fill up bottles in your hotel room and freeze one overnight (which will keep the other ones cold), you don't really notice a bad taste. And it still has that great Florida water smell!

In the event that you do drink water from the drinking fountains in the parks, be prepared to lose the will to live. It is that disgusting, mostly due to the warmth. There is no flavor packet that is going to help you out.

So ok, wow. I'm scared to drink from the fountatins now since everyone seems to be of the unanimous opinion that these tastes terrible. :crazy2:

So for those of you who don't bring/order bottled water, do you just go up to the CS places and get a cup of water then just use that in your brita bottles? I actually have a water bottle that has the filter already on it so I will probably just bring that. Worst case scenario I'll just have to buy bottled water at the park. Ugh..I wonder how much that's gonna cost?

I buy the first two bottles of water when I get there, then I just fill those two up over and over again in the hotel for the rest of the trip.

You could try pouring coca cola into the fountain water,, would maybe flatten it but the taste would be improved. Or just drink half a bottle of coke then refil with water to make it last.
