What do you use to carry your things around the park?

I have always used the dreadful Fanny Pack. I hate when straps fall off my shoulder like a purse or having a strap go across my chest. But I am going to have to do something to change but I don't know what. I definitely need something to carry my chap stick, money, camera, etc. I like the Fanny pack b/c I never have to fuss with it (unless I make it too heavy it starts to hurt my back) but it seems like no one uses them anymore.

Any suggestions or pics of things I can switch to!

I plan on making my husband carry a backpack with all of our needed items. I am half tempted though to borrow my mom's fanny pack just for convenience. I know they aren't stylish, but hey, you do what you have to do!!!! On the other hand, I don't really want to have pictures of myself in my scrapbook wearing a fanny pack. My kids will for sure think I am the uncoolest mom they know.

We bought a Mickey Mouse Club sling/backpack on clearance from the Disney Store last year. It's smaller than a regular backpack and we were able to fit two water bottles, passes and camera in without a problem.

I still wear a fanny pack. I guess they're kind of lame, but the one I have isn't too cheep chinsy looking, so it's ok.

I guess I'll be one of the few using a fanny pack. I find it the easiest means to cart around my camera and stuff. I too hate using a back pack and like my hands being free. I'd rather be out of fashion than uncomfortable.

I wear a fanny pack and I have DH use a backpack for everything I can not fit into the fanny pack.

I used a fanny pack, and my husband used a backpack. Fanny packs aren't that bad. Fashion gets a backseat over conveinence. It is great to have everything at your fingertips, I had our park passes, money, hotel card, sunglasses, lipstick, small sunblock, all the essentials. Good Luck!

I'm another "uncool" Mom with a fanny pack. I just push it to the back for pics and ignore fashion. I can't stand carrying anything and backpacks hurt my back worse. FI would never ever carry a backpack for me!!

We do a lot, well I think a lot, of traveling with 3 kids under 7. We usually use a backpack...well, I usually use a backpack because most of the day trips are minus DH. So, I figure that because he will be with me, we could both use a decent sized fanny pack (got them at Walmart for $5 each) and put other stuff in the Chicco umbrella stroller we have. They are navy blue and are big enough to hold a diaper, wipes, snack, band aids, and a camera. I have found that everyone is happier and you have less stuff to worry about if you pack as lite a possible.

Whenever we go to WDW or any park or outing, I always have this enormous bag, with everyones needs in it. By the end of the day, my shoulder is KILLING me, but I am so happy I had waters, sunblock, hats, cell phones, chapstick, etc etc.
This time, it is just us three girls, and I am going the route of the fanny pack! I am really struggling with letting the big bag go, but I determined....I AM DOING IT!!! ;)

I used to hate fanny packs, but about two years ago, I found a really neat one. It is designed to hold a small digital camera with some accessories, so it is smaller than your average fanny pack. It is very nice looking. It just barely holds my little camera, my passes and money, and my dis duck, not to mention my sunglasses. My husband carries a smallish camera bag that holds a couple mimi tapes and the little camcorder. We don't carry water bottles and the like, so the small camera bag and fanny pack work perfectly for us. Normally, we travel with my family, so my dad ends up carrying all of our stuff. Heheh....

If it works, here is a link to ebay with a picture of my hip pack. That's what they call it. I guess hip pack sounds better than fanny pack. It looks better in real life than in the picture.

Whatever you choose, just make sure you are comfortable with it. No one cares about fashion in WDW.

Fanny Pack, I WANT to be comfortable and need to carry my phone and camera without hurting ANY part of my body. :teeth: I have seen ALL kinds at the Parks and even the kind with the bottle holder on it, but thats a bit much for me. :confused3

I use the pockets of my husband's cargo shorts and my shorts/pants pockets for my room key, ID, and credit card.

I have a black leather Mickey Mouse fanny pack that I use. I only use it for Disney trips, so it's still in great condition even though I've had it for YEARS.

I also carry a sturdy, leather diaper bag back pack. It's made by Samsonite and I've had it for 4 1/2 years. It's still like brand new. I carry stuff that I don't care if it gets stolen in the back pack...kids change of clothes, snacks, etc. I carry my cell phone, cc's, small digital camera, cash in my fanny pack. I leave the diaper bag in the stroller when we go in an attraction.

I agree that fanny packs are out-of-date, except in WDW. It's still ok to wear one in WDW.

Well I'm kinda glad to hear people still use the Fanny Pack....(I thought I was one of the few left-lol) Maybe I will just stick to using the Fanny Pack like I normally do. It is so convenient to carry my stuff and I'm hands free :)

My DD (9 and 6) go to sailing school in Annapolis, MD, for a week each summer. My DH is from Maryland and is from a family of sailers/boaters. My FIL bought the girls a Coleman fanny pack toa carry lunch/sunscreen/sunglasses...that is awesome. You can see it here.

Last night while I was organizing the stuff we are bringing to WDW, I discovered that the fan/misters we have fit in the water bottle section of the Coleman fanny pack! We bought the larger size fan/bottle with the wide opening for ice at Walgreens (half price now) so I was shocked, actually pleasantly surprised, that it fit! The pack itself is quite roomy--I think it will fit DD9's digital camera, a suncreen stick, snack, small refillable water bottle, autograph book, sharpie pen(in a ziplock, of course) in additon to the fan mister :earsgirl: which we are hoping cuts down on our load!! We don't want to feel like pack mules!

The fanny pack has a handle/strap so it can be carried by hand easily.

I am hoping that we can distribute the load so the bags stay light (ie taking one sunscreen stick for all). HOWEVER, we will leave lots of room in DH backpack just in case the kids get cranky!!!

For the record, I tried on the packs and they are quite comfortable!

Hope this helps!

My husband wears a fanny pack, and I usually carry the backpack... between the two of us we've got everything we need for both us and our children.

We have a Mickey Mouse back pack that we take every year. It is the perfect back pack for Disney. It is a frosted clear vinyl back pack with Mickey Mouse on it. It has a main compartment on it that I carry our camera, video camera, band-aids, mole skin, mini-umbrellas (we like using these better than ponchos), water, etc., and then it has two smaller compartments on the front. The two front compartments are shaped like half cylinders so it is perfect for carrying car keys, room keys, packs of gum, snacks, etc. It is very easy for security to look through, even when full, and it is easy for use to get stuff in and out of it. Since it is vinyl, it can get wet and not get ruined and it keeps everything in it dry.

I usually have cargo shorts on in the parks, so all tickets, credit cards and money go in the pockets of my cargo shorts.

As long as we keep the weight under control, it isn't that heavy to carry around the parks. And it is small enough that I haven't had any trouble keeping it with me on any ride in the parks.

We got this back pack at the Disney Store about 7 years ago and have used it for our last 5 trips. We'll be using it for our next trip too.

We don't really carry anything into the parks. Just the stuff that fits in my pockets, passes, money, ID etc...
