What do you use to carry your items in the park?

I was wondering what people used to carry items with them in the park.

I don't like feeling weighed down, but, I like to have the necessities such as money, camera - small and light, tickets, water bottle and first aid kit with me. Any suggestions?

Last year DD and I had the fanny packs. They were rather bulky and annoyingly warm under the Floridain sun.

No baby with us, so we don't have the diaperbag. Locker would be not much help, having to go back and forth to get stuff. Oops should have added this earlier, but I have a neck disability, so I can't carry a back pack.
So DISers give me your best! :goodvibes

I use a light weight nylon bag with a long strap so I can wear it across my chest. I prefer it to a backpack or waist pack because I can move it around and side-to-side.

I used to use a backpack, which was a godsend when I toted a lot of 'stuff' (with a small child in tow). Now I use a small fanny pack, just big enough to carry my camera, some sun block, a credit card, tickets, and a bit of cash.

Sometimes I just use my camera case.

I find the less I carry, the more I realize I don't have to carry much. :thumbsup2

Pockets. :) Our rule is "If you can't carry it in your pockets, it doesn't go." Don't like carrying anything around and don't like the security lines for the folks with bags.

We used a sling pack on our last trip to the World. It has all the room of a backpack, but only has one long strap so you can carry it over your shoulder or you can have the strap across your chest for the ultimate in security.

I bring my backpack, as I usually bring my digital camera, video camera, a book and a small notebook (to take notes for my trip reports). I also will bring that day's page out of my PassPorter, as it has all my ADR info on it. It's not stuffed to the brink where it's too heavy and it's easy to tuck under the seat or in front of the seat or between my legs on an attraction. Also, as it is usually a little cool in the morning when I go in November, I'll wear a sweatshirt, but will throw it in my backpack as the day gets warmer.

For my recent solo visits to WDW I put whatever I need in my pockets. (Cargo shorts, usually). If it won't fit in a pocket, it ain't a-gonna go to the park!

Enjoy.

I prefer a messenger bag and wear it across my body. This is my most recent acquisition, it was just the right size too!

Bought something similar to fanny pack but, it's a High Sierra product used for hiking, etc., able to wear as a sling, shoulder bag or back pack as well as a fanny pack.

We were astounded @ how much junk it holds, goes well with my crocs.;)

We've taken to carrying one of those very small back packs they sell @ busch gardens that's mostly mesh to hold stitch hat, mickey gloves, pin trader, hidden mickey guide & pal mickey for DS on rides....he must be a metrosexual, needs his stuff moreso than me:banana:

I use a Travelon. I have two sizes, but both hold a TON. I bought them from QVC. It goes across my body and has an adjustable strap. I carry my keys, money, 3 cameras, lens, filters, and a few other things in it.

I use a backpack or slingbag, but since you have a neck problem and don't like the fanny pack, I think the best thing is a pair of cargo shorts/pants. The pockets will give you the room you need for what you plant to carry.

Cargo shorts that have velcro, buttons or zippered pockets. Women can wear similarly styled khaki pants, the kind with knee pockets. Having a smaller digital camera helps.

Another interesting alternative someone on the DIS suggested was wearing a vest or lightweight jacket with zippered pockets - depending on the time of year. Either way, you wouldn't have to remove it for every ride, which is a big problem with any kind of bag.

I agree, the less you carry, the less you tend to need.

The less the better. We just came back from Wilderness Lodge 9 nights and my wife and I use a small Disney hip bag thing, very small and thin. I can get my digital camera and ID in it just fine, blows right through security, only 2 zippered pouches. We never use bottled water, sun screen or any of that what not. If your bag is big, you tend to take too much of unneeded stuff, just slows up the security checks, they now make you take the bag or pouch off and place on the table for their inspection. I don't like jambing stuff in my pockets of my shorts or pants so the small bag works well. We never take ponchos either, we'll dry if we get wet but can always duck into an attraction or store so thats less unneeded weight. Seems to me that we are alot happier carrying less and enjoy the parks and scenery more and never seem to miss anything we didn't bring. Got to convey this into packing for the whole trip from home to Disney. I check my bag coming home and see what I didn't wear or need and plan for the next trip more carefully, no use hauling around extra weight and things that never get used.

We found many people recommending a Baggallini Messenger Sling bag. They can be found on the ebags website. My DW loves it (plus she got it in black so I can carry it too). :thumbsup2

I was there solo too and rely on pockets.

LLBean has a clothing line called Tropic Wear. The pieces are very lightweight, quickdrying and SPF 40. I have 2 pair of the capris and 2 long sleeved shirts. Believe it or not, I wear them on the hottest of days in July and August. The shirts are designed to roll to 3/4 sleeves. They have two pockets which velcro shut. In one I keep my cell phone and in the other I keep the room key, couple of bucks and my fast passes.

The capris are cargo style. I typically carry a cheapie poncho and a 2 gallon ziploc bag in one back pocket and a mini notebook and pen in the other. There is a side pocket for sticks of sunscreen. I put my chapstick and bandana in one of the front pockets. There is a key ring in another pocket and I clip my room safe key on that; I also put my hand sanitzer in there. There is a zippered pocket behind the front pocket and I keep my medication and a few band-aids in there. I'm looking for a really slim digital camera which I am sure I will have no problem slipping into one of the pockets.

Used to use the diaper bag system...but no more diapers. :)

Last trip we had a Camelbak daypack which was perfect. 2 liters of water plus plenty of space for cameras, ponchos, a towel, snacks, etc. I got so used to wearing it around that when standing in line not wearing it my back would start to hurt. Really liked it.

Wow, that cutsom made belt is wonderful! How did you put it together? Crafty aren't you!??
