What do you unfortunately have a lot of?

Clutter. I'm a good organizer, so I've been able to keep far too much in this house that I should have gotten rid of of as soon as I was done with it. Now it's a huge hidden project.

Legos. So. Many. Legos.

I love my husband and son. I do not love their Lego obsession. There are lego sets on every surface, practically. It's out of control.
Oh, how I agree with this.
So many Lego sorting days when the kids were younger and now that the kids are no longer kids, I have boxes and boxes of these with no place to store them. And my husband won't let me get rid of them, yet. Hoping that day will come at some point.

That's such a shame - really defeats the purpose of the plastic bag bans!

Maybe your local food pantry would be grateful for some?
Every other week I drop them off at our food pantry. I also saw a bin in a medical building with reusable bags for free, they were gone after my appointment, I might send some with my husband when he goes into his office again. And now I’m buying dog poop bags!

Oh, we have the loose Legos too. My issue is more with the actual built models that are displayed EVERYWHERE. Even hanging on the walls as art at this point. I have just given up. My house looks like a Lego museum. We could charge admission.

Lol...I bet my family would pay to see them!
We have a few built ones around the house but these have to be "mom" approved ones. All the rest of the sets were dismantled and boxed. And now so many boxes!!

Yes- it is so easy to hold onto things for far too long. They get tucked away and before you know it, years go by. In the beginning of Covid, mid-March 2020 through September 2020, I was home (some of that time ‘teaching’) but I had a lot of time on my hands. We (I mean my husband) built things in and around the house, and I began my Marie Kondo experience. I began going through everything- rearranging, tossing, and donating items.

I can’t let go of everything at once, so go through a cabinet or closet now as the mood strikes. I have the reference point of 2 y ago though, so if I pull something out and haven’t used or loved it in the last 2 years, its easier to let it go. Last weekend, I just told my husband that I feel the house finally is less full of unnecessary stuff.

I had so many books waiting to be read, cookbooks waiting to be used, clothes taking up space. Now I also am much more conscience of what I buy/don’t buy. I don’t need another book, cookbook, magazine, white shirt etc. I tend to buy the same item over and over because I like it. How many blue shirts/white tees/Boden shorts etc. does one person need? I tend to wear the same things over and over again.

What I still have too much of: perfume, jewelry, and coffee mugs.

costumes, shoes, hats, wigs, small and large handheld props.....all things accumulated through decades of doing theater and (my kids) doing cosplay. there's about 8 of the biggest size plastic bins full of the stuff-all organized by category. i had thoughts of donating a few years ago but covid hit it and still neither the community nor the college theater groups in my area have rebounded much as yet so i'm doubtful the groups that even remain in existence would have a want or need at this point.

Why not bring the REUSABLE bags with you? It really isn't that difficult.
I don't think you understood - she orders on line, so she isn't there to give them the bags when they pack the groceries. She is either driving up to get them after they are already packed, or they are being delivered to her house.

Got it. I miss understood. That is really unfortunate. What a waste. Wonder if goodwill would take them? Or maybe a group home or school.
So far the food pantry/thrift shop does, but a lot of people use grocery delivery/pickup that I’m guessing they will be overwhelmed. We have 2 grocery stores within 2 miles that offer the service, plus Instacart. The reusable bags they use aren’t great, sometimes the handles are already off when I get them.

We have a ban as well and the solution here seems to be switch to thicker plastic. 🙄 So instead of cheap thin plastic bags being thrown away, they are thick heavy plastic bags that’ll likely take 10 times as long to decompose.

Unmatched socks. My DH is sock-sorting challenged.

I came up with a solution to this. My DH does fine sorting his socks. My older DS does his own laundry and doesn't have many sock issues. My younger DS is another story. He's been coming and going for the past 5 or so years (college, summer job out-of-state, recently moved to yet another state). Whenever he comes home, he leaves behind orphan socks. I find them under his bed, in his hamper, in the bathroom, etc. He just spent two weeks here and his socks seemed to multiply.

My solution - I put them in a pile as I find them. When they're all rounded up, I match as many pairs as I can. Whatever is left hits the trash. No mercy. It's simple and effective! :rotfl:

coffee mugs. I had to stop myself from buying a cute fall mug this morning at tjmaxx. It had pumpkins on it and said "pumpkin time". It was so cute! I have so many already.
