OK! My wife and I are planning to go back in June 2006. :cool1: This will be our first time using our Vacation Club Points. :cheer2: We both are very excited about the opportunity of staying at such nice resorts. I know that it will be hard to get the Boardwalk Villas for all 8 nights that we plan to go with a Boardwalk view. First question is should I just take one of the other preferred views? Do most people like them? Are the Standard views all bad? We do spend alot of time at the parks but we are making this a more leisurly experince. :rotfl2: My wife is probably rolling over laughing at that statement since I usually have everything planned to the "T". Can you view Epcot or MGM from the rooms? :earseek: We will only be getting the studio since it just my wife and myself. Okay now for the last question. Is it better to try and get Boardwalk preferred view for what they have available and then transfer to another DVC resort? If so what do you prefer? What should I request? Can't wait for our first DVC vacation. I can honestly say I wish we would have done this when we started going 12 years ago. Thanks in advance for everyone's helpful advice!! :earboy2:

okay if you want BW view - then you probably need to find a BWV owner who will trade points with you.

the BW view is pretty popularity and generally goes fast.

same with the standard view.

now if you would be happy with regular BW view for your entire stay - you can probably get it.

just depends upon when you are going?

I happen to love the BWV standard view. You can see the tops of the fireworks.

if you want to see Epcot -then you might be better off staying at BCV. this resort is even harder to get a villa at.

Epcot and MGM can be viewed from many rooms at BWV, and standard views are not necessarily bad views. Preferred views will be waterway, MGM or anything not standard view or Boardwalk view. You can book Boardwalk view without an extra point charge over other preferred views.

What is your home resort? If it is the BWV and you call as soon as your 11 month window opens, you should be able to get the guaranteed Boardwalk view. To be absolutely sure of getting it, you should call day by day.

Best wishes -

We like SV for the points, and we've only had one stay there so far but had 4 SV rooms booked, and they all were fine view wise, and we did see the tops of Illuminations fireworks. We booked a 2 bedroom for our trip next week, we booked in March, only PV was available, not the Boardwalk view. We waitisted for SV and it came through, just a week or so after booking, so you may be fine with a waitlist for the view you want.

DH and I are also going in June, but we've picked VWL for our couples only trip. That is my absolute favorite place to be.

Thanks to all and please keep the replys coming from your own experiences of splitting up your trips at two resorts or staying with any certain views. Our home resort is Saratoga, so I will be unable to book until 7 months out. I think it would be great to be close to MGM and Epcot which is what I here this resort is close to. I would love to be able to sit out on a balcony and just see one of the parks from our room. Although I will not let this ruin my vaction if this does not happen. We just enjoy being there together no matter what. That is why if the standard rooms are nice I would be satisfied with that. I have heard there is just so much going on around the boardwalk and that it is a very enjoyable experince.

Thank you! Would love to here more!

DH and own at VB, so we booked at the 7mo window for our upcoming trip. The BW was completely booked, so we originally booked at OKW, and waitlisted the BWV for the whole trip.

Well...what happened was, we got BWV in pieces. We first got the first 2 nights in a studio with a boardwalk view. Then...we got the next 3 nights in a one-bedroom, preferred view, and the final 4 nights in a studio preferred view. We took it, b/c we really wanted to stay at the Boardwalk!! I know, we are crazy!! :earseek:

kelleyf2626, tell us, is that the present status of your ressie, or did you waitlist for an get a ressie with less moves? I don't think you're crazy, you're getting a BW view before I ever do!!!

Have fun!

PS. In March, when I booked the 2 bedroom, I gave up 2 SV studios for the stay, Aug. 20-23, we had a 50 point BWV add on that burned a hole in my pocket. I'm so happy with the 2 bedroom, it's more like our guests are really visiting us at home.

That is the present status of our ressie. What happened was, initially, we took whatever became available w/in the amount of points we had available. :earsboy:

We debated on waitlisting the whole time in a studio to have one reservation (as we didn't have enough points to do the entire time in a 1-bedroom). But, the problem was, the points we would have saved would have gone into holding. Our use year is February, and we would not have used these points between now and then - and I don't think you can bank points in holding. So.....we decided to keep it "as is". DH and I also liked the idea of trying out the 1-bedroom, since we have never stayed there before.

Our plan is that on the days we are "checking out" and then checking back in to a different room - to just drop our luggage off in the morning when we check out (they will hold it for you), and hopefully have them move it into our new room when it is ready - so when we get back from the parks, we can just go to the new room. Hopefully it won't be that much of a hassle! :confused3

Yes, I am interested to see how it works myself! :teeth:

Hopefully it will go smoothly, and not be a total disaster! I will let you know when we get back! :earsboy:
