What do you think?

Both my son(8) & daughter(11) scrap pages from family vacations for their own albums. I'm wondering, why do I need to scrap the same vacations? Am I crazy? Of course, I'd scrap many more pages than they will for the same trip, but I keep asking myself "for what reason?". Who am I doing this for if they both already have their own pages?

Am I losing it or what?

Brenda

I'd do it for myself! I love to do it. I do ask myself what will happen to my albums, because I do not have kids. I do enjoy re-living my trips in my albums, though. I have journaled my feelings and going through them really helps me re-live that.

I just had a thought. Their albums will be special to them for those reasons. Don't you think that they will want to remember you by seeing those trips through your eyes later? I think remebering how much joy my mom had during our trips would be a wonderful way for me to remember her when she's gone.

Wow, I'm feeling WAY too philosophical today. Go with what you want. If you enjoy scrapping them, then by all means, continue!

I'd still scrap them myself. DD has her own book and supplies and I give her all my doubles. Some times we are scrapping the same pics at the same time.

She just asked me the other day when I was going to stop scrapping in "her" book? (The one I do for her). I told her I should probably stop since she scraps herself. She yelled, "NO!" I think she likes that I do them. I finally said I would probably stop with a special book for her when she gets married. I figured when each of my kids gets married I will give them their collection of photo albums.

I would continue as you have an entirely different perspective on the vacations than your children.

I agree! I would do my own version and include lots and lots of journaling. How you felt at that moment in time...when your kids are grown up I am sure they will love reading it! ::yes::

Thank you everyone for the reassurances -- I do appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

Have a great week!

Brenda, you need to keep scrapping them. All of the journalling experts suggest that you focus on the "Why" behind your page when your journal not just the who, what, where, when facts. If you do that, you'll convey so much about yourself and what makes your family unique. No one but you is going to know why an image from vacation is important to you if you don't tell them....just IMHO.

hee-he I am REALLY crazy

I do a complete Scrap Book on a vacation - AND I do pages in each childs book.

:) When the kids leave home with their books I will have the vacation albums for my collection!
I also Agree with Aurora about the journalling aspect.

I agree with still doing your own. My DD just started scrapbooking and I wondered the same thing. The kids will appreciate it when they are older.

Hey, by the way. Subject change. Have you been over the Memories Ink since Karen has moved the store???? Haven't made it myself. Just wondering what its like.

We need to get over there together and crop sometime.

Janine

Hi Janine --

Yes, I've been to the store, during the first week she was open (my DD helped her unpack at the new store). We were on vacation last week (Vegas/Grand Canyon/Bryce Canyon) so I haven't had a chance to see how the unpacking was going. It's much bigger in size, I hope that she gets the inventory to make it look like there's lots to offer if you know what I mean.

Don't know that I'll ever really scrap there, I like coming to my office (I work at American Title on Hillcrest) -- we have great big conference tables that give me lots of room for spreading out!

Again, thanks to all who have reinforced that I should scrap my own books too -- now I'm not feeling as guilty about it.

Brenda
