What do you think....??

I don't care how people are dressed. I purchase the candy to give it out. I'm not going to spend the night playing Candy Cop.:rotfl:

My son is 15. He stopped dressing up about 3 years ago. He still goes out along with my sister and I to "help" his younger cousins. He comes home with just as much candy as the little ones.
I pretty much feel the same way. When I first had an older kid that wasn't dressed up, I was sort of put off by it. Then I just realized "seriously, who cares?" They are having fun, not something to make a big deal about (at least, IMO)

If they come TOT at my house they get candy no matter what the age. But the ones who are dressed up get the best candy (candy bars). For anyone that can't be bothered to slap on SOMETHING,well, they get a butterscotch or dum dum sucker. We also keep animal crackers and pudding cups on hand for the babies.

i would just dress my baby up and take them to see family members and such. but i guess it's a bit different here. it's always cold on halloween and people are just careless so i wouldn't want to take my baby out. but that's just me.

You couldn't keep our 18-month old in the house with an entire roll of duct tape and a 50-foot chain. :teeth: :teeth: He was literally dragging me out the door last night -- not for the trick-or-treating or the candy, but because there were hundreds of kids outside and he wanted to be a part of it. :goodvibes

We limited how much he did, but he had to be part of the night. :thumbsup2 Oh, and with his Tigger costume, he was pretty toasty warm. :goodvibes

Well, my kids were with a group of about 8 kids last night, and parts of costumes were being removed as the night went on. It was a bit humid and the kids were sweating under the masks and nylon costumes. I'm sure by the time we got to the last few houses, people thought the kids couldn't be bothered to wear costumes. At least they all looked good going out the door! I looked liked I had a costume, though, because I got stuck carrying a lot of the bits and pieces while they had fun!! No one had a problem with the kids in "partial" costumes and everyone who answered the door gave the kids candy without any problem. :thumbsup2

I personally, being 19, believe if kids my age are trick or treating they need some kind of costume. Me, I just dress up because it is my favorite time of year, I don't even need candy!! I love seeing little kids in costume, they are sooo cute :rotfl:

I don't go trick or treating because for one thing a lot of the candy is not Vegan and I am a Vegan and also it's just not something for me. But I must say that I would not need a costume on Halloween, because I am so shy and cute and everyone knows that I am just adorable

No costume no candy, but then out of pity they would get candy anyway.

We don't think it matters. You come and you get candy. We don't give out better candy to people in better costumes. IMO, that's a discriminatory (That sounds really bad, but I definitely do not mean it in a strong way--I mean it in a very small way.). It just seems that with all the things to worry about in the world, why fret over who is wearing a costume?

Maybe ... sing an aria.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I bet most people don't know what it is. :teeth: :teeth:

Costume, no costume, old, young... It doesn't matter to me, candy for all!!!! :yay: :yay: I think the problem is that some people are too stuck on rules and "shoulds" when they should be having more fun and enjoying themselves. :thumbsup2

If a 29 yr old male came to my door alone & with no costume, he would not be getting any candy...or anything else for that matter. :goodvibes :cloud9: That's not cute, that's weird.

If families come ToT, I give candy to the kids & anyone else who has a bag. At least one out of the bunch always has a costume on.

I also keep animal cracker or graham crackers for the very little ones.

To me the important thing about Christmas is people being kind to their friends and family and people being happy together :) You don't have to give presents to others to show them that you care about them and you don't have to get presents to be happy :)

now see that's how it works in the normal world. but with my family?? everyone would be so angry if i didn't buy them all a present. my family has issues tho, i don't think they should count.

Hard Candy is simply sugar and water , boiled with flavors added. How a Vegan can't eat candy is beyond me? :confused3

But then, no matter how cute and adorable an adult male is (my adult sons are handsome hunks , BTW, I consider little girls cute and adorable ),

no adult should trick or treat alone ,it's for kids to do, in my opinion.

Our friends just moved back from Detroit. They lived just in the city limits next to Grosse Point. They said they would get 500 to 600 people every year. They said the last few years most were not even dressed up. Apparently the new thing was for mothers with infants to come to your door with 2 bags. One for the baby (newborn to 6-7 months old) and one for the mother. No one was dressed in a costume. Not even the baby. Just people out mooching for candy. And then being ticked off if they didn't like what you had. :confused3

Ding Dong
