Hiya Guys

I've been studying the Virgin Atlantic Website now for what seems like weeks and tomorrow is the day that I can finally book our flights.

The cost is coming out at £4700.00 plus 45000 miles thats for 6 PE seats.

Whats your thoughts:confused3

Hubby says book them as we ended up having to cancel this years trip due to the flight costs increasing on a daily basis, I remember at one point it was looking to cost us the same for economy as it did for PE the year before, I simply refused to pay it.

I've checked BA, FC and Thomsons and they are all the same cost as Virgin PE without the miles, using my miles I think I save around £1100.00 plus my Quidco cashback so maybe around £1300.00 altogether.

Thanks guys

Annette

We paid £885 + 7,500 miles each for flights in September/October next year so it seems like a good price to me.

Sadly, I think the days of £500-£600 for PE is a thing of the past given all the taxes and fees. I'd be happy with that price.

I'd snap that up. Our dates are currently at £1215 per person which we just won't pay.

Must say I'm getting really nervous about whether we'll even go next year. Yikes!!!

Hiya Guys,

Well would you believe it, and you probably would as fellow disers, I set my alarm for 4.30am on Monday morning knowing that this was the day I would be able to book my flights.

Luckily they were available when I logged on and booked them straight away. I believe I paid £4789.00 plus miles for the 6 of us in PE.

Later on in the day I logged on again to show hubby how much I had saved and for standard economy the cost was more than I had paid for my PE seats 5 hours earlier, I believe Economy had rised to £1109 each :scared1:. I apprecaite I have booked a Saturday in and outbound flight and that our return leg is at the end of a half term, but it made my day when I logged in to see how much the cost had risen in just a matter of hours. Today there is no PE or economy seats available whatsoever, so I'm so pleased I struck whilst the iron was hot so to speak :cool1:

London75, hopefully you will catch a bargain, but I did exactly the same as you this year, thought I would get a better deal later on in the year and as the days past the flight priced increased to the point were we took the decision to cancel this years trip, hence the reason I was so keen to get this years flight booked asap.

It's amazing what a burden is lifted once you have your flights! I am not travelling during holiday time next year and even my flights which are indirect have risen in price. I think we are at the stage where comparing to previous years just serves as discouragement and frustration. I know we paid less for PE seats last Easter than we did for economy this year. At least now you know you are going! :cool1:

2tiggies, we did contemplate traveling economy next year or maybe even PE there and Economy back, but I must say it was whilst reading your trip report that we decided to save the extra and travel PE both ways.

I just knew I would feel exactly the same as you did having been spoilt for so many years travelling PE, and you know what, now its booked I feel on top of the world :cool1::cool1::cool1: Many say that the flight is just a means to an end and I do agree to certain extent, but it is still part of our holiday and one now I know we will begin to enjoy as soon as we board the plane:thumbsup2

You took the words right out of my mouth! :) It is a very individual thing, but I am one of those people who likes my 'comforts'. I am the type that would go without food to sit in a nice seat :rolleyes1 Others have a more practical approach, but as you say, it depends what you are used to and having grown used to PE, the economy was a bit of a shock :rotfl:

We have just paid £2100 for 2 adults and one child next September and thats just in Economy. The worst thing is the price has gone down and is now just over £1900. I could cry. I do think you are getting a good deal.:hippie:

Sept is low season, unfortunately thats how airlines make money, selling to people that pay too much for flights. Chances are the price will drop even more at that time of year (but nothing is certain)
I once did it myself to Los Angeles, paid £390pp for a miles and money fare they then dropped to about £350pp regular price, would have earned miles instead of spending them.

You must have wanted to spit! I looked a few times shortly after I booked our flights and saw the price had gone up, as expected. Anything can happen in the next 9 months though, including a mega sale :rolleyes1 However I have no inclination to check now. I knew what I was willing to pay, I was happy with what I paid when I booked and I refuse to subject myself to the risk of torture. Prices may be lower at some point before we leave, but realistically, we all know when we buy anything that there will most likely be better and worse deals before and after we buy whatever it is we are paying for.

What I am saying is if you are happy, you got a good deal. :thumbsup2

I wasn't happy when I saw the lower price but it very rarely happens. After 17 years of flight price watching I have a good dea when to jump in, although I just checked Feb flights if we had waited til now I could have got AA for £440 instead of US airways at £470. You win some you lose some.:goodvibes

Just checked our August flights and they have gone up £689.70 (£230pp)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but thought I'd update, we bit the bullet getting nervous that there would be no Florida holiday this year and booked 2 adults 2 kids in PE for £4100 Miles plus Money. That's August so it was never going to get cheaper we decided.

Hated paying that but I'd hate staying at home even more.

It's my first attempt at totalcashback as well so might be getting 3% back (might not of course!)
