What do you think the best role would be?

I'm planning on applying for the College Program for Fall 2011. I know I have a while until I have to apply but I want to put my role choices in order and I can't decide lol. I have 4 roles that I think I'd enjoy and want to put in order. My top 4 are FSFB,Attractions,BBB Hostess, and Character Attendant. Which out of these 4 would be the most fun? I originally had BBB and CA as my top 2 but then I thought about putting Attractions as my 1st choice because I'd love to work at the GMR. Any help would be appreciated, I'm so indecisive! lol

From what I've heard about BBB, if you don't have some sort of salon/ cosmo background, your chances for getting it are greatly diminished. It's not completely out of the running if you don't have any experience, but they're more likely to choose someone for it who has experience than someone who doesn't. (IDK if you have experience or not, but just letting you know.)

I personally think character attendant would be the most fun. I work in costuming & love interacting with the characters, & character attendants interact with them at a different level.

For attractions, Great Movie Ride & Jungle Cruise are some of the most requested rides to work at. Almost everyone I know who has done attractions has loved it. (Just so you get an idea of everything that falls under attractions, Innoventions at Epcot & the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground at Studios are both considered to be attractions.)

I haven't really heard anything about FSFB, so I can't help you with that.

My choice would be character attendant. It was my 2nd choice for when I applied for the fall, but I got my first choice of costuming, which is what I did during my last program.

I think it would depend. BBB seems like it would be fun because you get to dress up (you're kind of like a face character) and working in MK would be a definite plus (there are two locations though). But obviously, you have to be a kid person. And working with kids has it's obvious drawbacks, and not everyone is equipped for that. If you plan on putting BBB as your top 3, you should have some kind of experience with hair/make-up. People who have been in plays or other performance situations often get in because they explain that they have experience doing various kinds of hairstyles and make-up. If that doesn't apply to you chances are you won't even be considered :(

With character attendant you get that interaction with the characters, but you also have to crowd control to a certain degree. And anyone who's been to Disney World can tell you that some parents/kids/teenagers can be quite demanding when it comes to getting a picture with a character! And sometimes won't take no for an answer when it's time for the character to leave.

FSFB, get's kind of underrated. Granted, I have no experience with it, but it seems like it would be fun at least if you were in a location like say, Cinderella's Royal Table or any of the other character-frequented locations. But I suppose otherwise it might just be like working a regular waitressing/hostessing job.

Don't know much about attractions, but I haven't heard a bad word about it so far. As TinkStitch said, Great Movie Ride and Jungle Cruise are often requested... though I wonder how often those roles are given to CPs? Personally, I think Space Mountain would be nice... get to stand in the cool indoors :)

I initially heard the same thing about BBB...that you need salon or hair/makeup experience. But recently I've been reading about a lot of people who didn't and just had a lot of experience working with children (which I do). I love working with kids (and plan to become a teacher) so I figured maybe I might have a chance on getting a role there because I have so much experience with kids. I don't have any professional hair/makeup experience but I have an interest in it and practice on my little sister lol. I guess I could mention that in my interview?

For Character Attendant, I'm not sure if I'm good at handling large groups of people but I guess it'd be a good experience since being a teacher requires directing large groups lol. Is it the kind of job where a higher up is always looking over your shoulder though? Cause I hate those types of jobs! I work better on my own, less pressure (which sometimes makes me think custodial would be a good fit for me but I'd rather not take out garbage lol)

I have done (and am currently statused in) character attendant and attractions (for attractions, I am currently working at the Great Movie Ride). I absolutely love both roles. GMR is fun because I love the guest interaction, I have a lot of fun doing tours, and I love everyone I work with. Character attendant is fun because I enjoy interacting with the characters (and being able to work in all 4 parks).

Quite often. There are quite a few CPs at GMR right now

There can be. It depends on the location

Oh! I'm glad then. I didn't doubt that CPs got put there, but wondered how difficult it would be given there probably is some sort of audition process. That's great to know since I'm sure the experience would be fun for someone who enjoys acting.

There's no audition process for GMR (or any of the speiling attractions).

I would think that the best role would be the one you'd be most happy in.

I know for me, that would have been hospitality (my major) but I'm pretty happy with what I ended up in.
