What Do You Think of Twilight?

Read the books, they got worse as they came out.
Twilight was good.
Movies are okay.

I tolerate it.
But like Shelby said, I get annoyed with people who furiously hate it too.
A friend will tear it to shreds for an hour if you ask her what she thinks about it.
I have to tell her to stop.
i think my favorite one was the third one. i feel like it could have stopped there and been a good trilogy. i think meyer has a problem letting her characters go. i thought the fourth book was pretty unnecessary.

I couldn't agree more!

I just felt like I was reading the same book repeatedly (made it until about midway through Eclipse), and I didn't like the protagonist at all, so I just stopped reading.

The 4th book was just painful man.
It didn't even have a good ending.
I was like 'That's it? They have sex and she shows him her memories? Woopty Doo...'

True Blood...is my obsession.
I'm not a TwiHard, I'm a TrueHard..lol

Fang Bangers FTW!!!

Back to the original topic...

I read the books as they came out. I was one of the first in my school to read Twilight. I thought they were decent at the time. I liked them well enough. Then I exposed myself to authors who I consider to be much better and it became apparent to me that her writing was pretty average. The fouth book was atrocious. I hated it so much.

As for the movie? I saw Twilight opening day. My commentary for the entire movie consisted of this: "Awkward....creepy...awkward....creepily awkward." I thought Robert Pattinson was a horrible choice for Edward and this movie has ruined any chance Kristen Stewart might have had for me to think she was a good actress. I haven't seen New Moon, but I'm sure somebody in my dorm will force me to watch it.

sweet bragz, bro

I'm just saying that's how into the series I was before I realized that it's just kinda junk. I'm not bragging.

And honestly, you seem to have a gift to making everything sarcastic and annoying.

it's a cross i must bear

i hate twilight. it teaches that the most important thing in life is having a boyfriend. edward is a stalker. jacob sexually harrasses her. it encourages domestic violence as bella wakes up the day after the wedding covered in bruises. and something about how it has taken in so many people seems very off to me.

it kind of makes me wonder what the next craze will be. we did witches/wizards and now vampires.

my friend and i were discussing this today. i think it will be another witch/wizard thing. there are already a few new witch/magic shows around now. and buffy was a big craze before harry potter.

I hate Twilight with just about all of my being.

I read the books when I was around 15. They suck. I mean that in a derogatory way. Then I saw the movies because my friend needed a buddy to see them with and I was less impressed. I liked the movies better only because they spent less time talking about Edward's breath and they were over faster. I seriously HATE on Twilight. I'm in college now and I took a public speaking class last semester. My final persuasive speech was Anti-Twilight........and it got an A and lots of the girls in class were asking me questions afterwards and were really surprised at some of the stuff I pointed out during the speech. If anyone wants to hear it, I can post it on a new thread.

And Kristen just looks drugged all the time.

Admittedly, I really like the book series, but the movies don't seem too great. I only saw Twilight, though, and not New Moon yet. I just hate how people assume that all Twilight fans are crazed, rabid fangirls who dream of [or even plan on] stalking Robert Pattinson or turning into a vampire. I love the books, but I have no desire for any of these other things. I do enjoy lots of funny Twilight satire, though, when it's done politely and not used as an outright bashing. The only thing that really bugs me is the rabid fanbase and haters assuming that all fans of Twilight are like this; crazed, thoughtless maniacs.

HAHAHA

I'm a Twilight fan. I love the books, although there are better ones out there written. Take Harry Potter for an example. Those books are sooooo much better than Twilight. They are well written and have a great plot, whereas Twilight is just about a vampire protecting his human lover.

I think the biggest problem with these books is that people take them far to seriously. They need to be read at face value, for entertainment purposes, not as a preaching on how to live your life.

To go against the arguement that it "teaches that the most important thing in life is having a boyfriend. edward is a stalker. jacob sexually harrasses her. it encourages domestic violence as bella wakes up the day after the wedding covered in bruises. and something about how it has taken in so many people seems very off to me." These situations add to the drama of the books. They appall people but it keeps you reading. This is not an old technique, as authors are always writing about touchy subjects and how their characters choose to deal with them, is not necessarily the way the reader should deal with them.

I love the series, for me it wasn't about thevampirism at all. I really liked the love story, and the extreme measures they had to take in order to make things work between them. I am a romantic at heart and I think that this story was very creative and well done.

The first movie actually was the biggest dissapointment for me. Maybe it was written for the fans, but the script-writter did a poor job of picking out the most important aspects or quotes from the book itself.

I have to admit i liked the books the first time i read them.
But now because of the movies and all of the obnoxious fans i don't like them.

And also i realized just how bad the characters are.
Bella is just annoying, whiny, and has no dimensions.
Edward is REALLY annoying with the whole "i'm a monster, i hate my life" thing.
Jacob is just kind of pathetic with the whole i love Bella, and i hate Edward, Bella belongs with me stuff. and not to mention the whole imprinting on Renesme or however you spell her name. I've always thought that was weird.

but yea.
those are my thoughts.
:D

but there are many girls who take these lessons to heart. if people saw this story as you do, i might not have such an aversion to it.

i read the books and saw the first movie, so im not just making judgements based on nothing. the whole thing just makes me very uncomfortable.
