Michelle Rodriquez gets out of jail after only 4 hours and 20 minutes. She was supposed to serve 2 months! How is this fair? I guess celebs have more perks than we know.

People.com article

Call it a lucky break for Michelle Rodriguez: The former Lost actress was released from Los Angeles County Jail on Thursday after serving a mere four hours and 20 minutes of her two-month jail sentence.

"Needless to say, our prosecutors are not happy about this," says a spokesperson for the L.A. City Attorney's office. "But the sheriffs have a policy to let some nonviolent offenders go early, in part due to jail overcrowding."

Rodriguez, 27, must perform 30 days of community service and is on two years probation.

The night of her release, the actress was spotted at the Tropicana Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel, and on Monday night at the Hollywood club Shag.

"Michelle's happy with the way things turned out," her friend, designer Anand Jon, tells PEOPLE. "She knows this wasn't a literal get-out-of-jail-free card. Michelle's taken responsibility for the past and now she's ready to focus on her career."

On May 22, Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating probation due to her DUI arrest last December in Hawaii.

In New York City the week before her sentencing, she told PEOPLE, "I'm a gypsy. I can see beauty in a jail cell."

In April, Rodriguez was sentenced to five days in an Oahu jail for her December 1, 2005, DUI arrest on the island. She served just 65 hours because the time she'd spent in custody after her arrest counted toward her sentence.

On the other hand, her character, as well as that of the other DUI actress, were killed off in the same episode. Maybe they wrote their characters out of the script because of the DUIs. ABC is a Disney company, after all. That cost those two actresses a whole lot of money.

So maybe karma took over for our failed prison system.

That's nothing....we had a woman in this area running an illegal daycare out of her home and a child died in her care(not the first one either) and she was out in 4 months...and her DH was a PO(perhaps a Sargent or Detective) and allowed to retire with full benefits despite having full knowledge that his DW was running an illegal daycare in his home??????? :confused3

It may have less to do with her celebrity status than we think, and more to do with how overcrowded prisons are. Many times non-violent offenders are released after serving only a tiny fraction of their sentences.

I really hope Michelle Rodriguez hires herself a chauffer. She is obviously a terrible driver to begin with, and the fact that she drinks and drives makes her a total menace on the road.

and did you read in the article she was in the bar the same night as her release? I wouldn't be surprised if she did it again. You are right she needs a chauffer. She can clearly afford it.
