We are planning our second trip to WDW. I have been reading the threads and trying to decide what restaurants my family would enjoy. We have been to Coral Reef, LTT, CP, WCC, Primetime, Ohana breakfast and Donald's old breakfast. We wanted to try some new places and are looking for fun. We are planning to only repeat WCC, because we enjoyed the atmosphere and loved the food. and maybe CP. So, with that said what do you think of the choices we have made so far. I have not planned times and days because the park times have not been released yet and we can't book our ADR's yet anyway. Ok, here goes...

1. O'hana dinner
2. Biergarten
3. Chef Mickey's
4. Boma?
5. Sci-fi (I know the reviews, but the girls want to try it)
6. WCC
7. CP (we are not morning park people, but the girls thought it would be neat if we could get ADR's before the park opens)

'Ohana gets very mixed reviews but we love it. The food is yummy, the atmosphere is very fun for the kids. Some of the tables are near the windows and have lovely views across seven seas lagoon to the castle. If you've never been to the Poly at night, try to save some time to explore the grounds a little. It is a beautiful resort. At 9 PM, you can see the Electrical Water Pageant on the lagoon and you can watch wishes from the Beach, too. It would make for a lovely evening of dinner AND entertainment!

We have enjoyed Chef Mickey's as a traditional 1st night meal. It really gets us in the Disney mood. The character interaction has always been great, but the food seems to be hit-or-miss. We have also found that a seat in the main dining room is essential if you want to reach the full enjoyment potential of this restaurant. We have been seated in both of the side rooms and the main room, and BY FAR, the main room wins! You can watch the monorail glide by above you, too, which is special.

We enjoyed Biergarten very much. It is a great Epcot option for families with kids. The band is fun to watch and the hand bell player is great! The food is very good, I think that everyone will find something they like, though I wouldn't rave about it. You might be seated with other diners at longish, picnic-like tables.

We thought Boma was just OK. Maybe we hit it on an "off" night, for them AND us. We had spent all day in AK with no break and were tired, cranky, and a little heat-stroked. We couldn't really appreciate the food or atmosphere, but we will try it again on a future trip. The AKL is a beautiful resort, and it's worth going just to check that out.

We've never been to Sci-Fi or CP breakfast, but we really enjoyed CP dinner. The character interaction was best we've ever had and the food on that day (we went at opening) was the best buffet food we've had. And I LOVE Eeyore!

We're looking forward to trying WCC for dinner in April.

Enjoy!

What no Castle? With your girls I think they'd LOVE the Throne room and the ambience you can only find in eating at the castle....we eat at the Castle every trip!

I would nix Boma's..just not a fan of the hike over there and I stayed at the AKL, the smells were not my cup of tea...so I doubted I'd like it..but I like to hit restaurants that are closer to what we're seeing, unless y'all want the excuse to see the resort, but I think you can forego it otherwise.

Definitely Sci Fi! That's also one that we almost go to each time and we've always had EXCELLENT food...it's just a burger/fry joint but I think my husband had ribs one time...but we've always loved it.

For dining experience I'd probably pick Biergarten over Le Cellier, but if you're going for good food, we really like Le Cellier at Epcot. Our food at Biergarten just wasn't that great....

We enjoyed our one visit to 'Ohana's but we won't return, the kids loved doing all the games during the meal but by the time the kids made it back around from the broom game their food was cold...and many times our skewers were cold and the meat was touch...but we loved the appetizer, can't remember what it was! :) But, for a one time visit, yep it's fun.

We liked WCC..fun and we liked getting to the lodge, it's nice.

You might try Raglan Road instead of Boma's for a day out...I haven't been there but it's gotten awesome reviews and they have Irish dancers/ music there on certain days/nights...it would make for a good experience with your girls! :)

'Ohanas - Definitely. It's fun for the kids, and it has great food.
Chef Mickeys - Nice experience, we just didn't enjoy the food.
Crystal Palace - It was PACKED so the whole experience was pretty lackluster.

We love sci-fi it's our tradition to eat there every visit. The only advice I would give is the AC is usually set to arctic so take a jumper! The food isn't great, it's good and plentiful but we go for the atmosphere and the fact that DH is a big kid and likes to sit in a car to eat!

We have done Boma for breakfast and loved it, we are going again this year. The breakfast juice was yummy and the fruit selection was one of the best we have had at WDW on a buffet. We didn't feel at all rushed and the pods were a good idea so you could visit each one and choose your food. The pastries were fabulous.

WCC is always good for a laugh and we are trying there for breakfast this time. The servers really get into the mood and we had a really good time there. The skillet we had was good but I didn't guess the chicken would be on bones so I couldn't eat it . The pork was yummy though as were the mashed potatoes, had to have more of those! The corn bread was also very good although I would call it cake rather than bread. Check out the list of crazy things to do to get your server to join in the fun at allears.net/dining.

Chef Mickeys is also very enjoyable. The food here was great (breakfast) but we forgot the camera so had no pictures! We have no kids but the characters still took the time to interact with us and be silly.

We have never done CP or Ohana but both are on the list for breakfast this time. We are lucky enough to be doing Deluxe DDP so we have a breakfast most days. I will return considerably heavier looking at our ADRs. It took me an hour on the phone to DVC services to book them all! (and several day filling in a spreadsheet and making many mmany alterations!) :surfweb:

can't believe what I'm hearing about boma. It was THE best selection and best buffet we did -- unbelievable. Indescribable. People flock there for this place, so make reservations. I've eaten everywhere -- my two favorites: Crystal Palace and Boma. Period.
Boma -- you have to experience. A must for adults! Not so for kids.

People have different opinions, don't worry. Go ahead and enjoy your dinner at Bomas! :)

Thank you!!! Boma is the ONE restaurnat that we go to on every trip! The kids love it, and so do we. We love it SO much more than CP, Chef Mickey, and Ohana. My sister is going for 11 days soon and its the only place I told her was a "must do."

Good luck w/ your choices....I think the take home message is we all get something different from different places so you'll soon see which you  and which you dont = half the fun is finding out which is which!:)

Thanks everyone, great to hear your opinions. I know there are going to be things at Boma that we may not like, but we like the adventure of trying new things. We really want to see AKL. We'll probably try to eat there the day we go to AK, I hate to take that drive too many days. Is it really worth going to CP that early. My oldest dd (13) HATES to get up early, but she is the one that is the most excited about it. What time is good to get an early ADR there?

We had also thougth about skipping WCC since we've done it in exchange for another TS at Epcot, but we figured we could have a lot of fun eating different CS meals there the evening we eat CP for breakfast. Has anyone ever done that?
