Hello and thanks for clicking. We're heading down for our 3rd trip to Disney in a few weeks and I've set up some ADR's for restaurants we've yet to try during previous trips.

These are all dinner reservations for a family of 4 with 2 children, 7 and 4 respectively. I'd love to get some feedback from you, as the reviews you normally see on TripAdvisor tend to be skewed one way or the other:

1) Biergarten- Epcot

2) Sci Fi Theater- Hollywood Studios

3) Grand Floridian Cafe-

4) Tony's Town Square (Keep in mind that I'm from NY and consider Olive Garden to be fast-food pseudo-Italian, not real food).

5) Coral Reef Restaurant

Thanks for your comments!

I will only give you advice on the restaurants I have been to. Sci-Fi will be fun for the kids. The food is ok, nothing special; but we had great service and fun watching the movies.

Tony's - you can get better Italian in NY definately; but the food is fine here. I felt is was better than Olive Garden but not as good as mom's.

Coral Reef, the food was good but sitting in front of the aquarium, for me, was awesome and so worth it.

Biergarten - The food is good and the band is fun. It may be little loud for some, but fun. Just know that you will more than likely be sat with other people. We were every time we went. The first 2 times were great. It was nice meeting people from other states. The last time was horrible. My husband and I went for our 25th anniversary. They sat us down with a family that was already seated. All we got were glares and nothing when we said hello. They made us feel like we were intruding even though they tell you before you are seated they do this.

Sci Fi - It's a fun place eating in a car and watching old science fiction clips. It mainly just has sandwiches, but they are good.

Coral Reef - It usually gets bad reviews, but we just came back from a trip and ate there. Our food was delicious and our waiter was wonderful. My husband and I had the mahi mahi and our grown children had the lobster ravioli. The first time my husband and I were there, we were seated as far from the aquarium as you can get. This last time my husband asked if we could be seated closer to the aquarium when we first went in. They said they would see what they could do. We were seated in the 3rd row bottom from the aquarium (very close). It doesn't hurt to ask.

We really like Biergarten, it is lots of fun for the kids! Grand Floridian Cafe is yummy too! Never had Sci Fi. I like Coral Reef, my kids love to eat there by the aquarium. Tonys is not my fave...growing up with an Italian grandma from NY I have to say I was not impressed! Via Napoli has excellent Italian style pizza.:thumbsup2

Except for Biergarten, these are all places that tend to get bad reviews, they also get bad word of mouth. In my opinion there are better alternatives in every case.

1) Biergarten- We loved this place. I was skeptical at 1st because my 1st experience here was less than memorable. The entertainment was great and the food was surprisingly fresh for a buffet. If you like German food you'll like this place.

2) Sci Fi Theater- Hollywood Studios - This restaurant gets mixed reviews. We really like it because of it's atmosphere. How cool is it to eat in cars and watch old movie trailers?!? Very! The food is good - it's not going to win awards but it's a good meal.

3) Grand Floridian Cafe- I haven't eatten here.

4) Tony's Town Square - If your not into Olive Garden you won't like this at all.

5) Coral Reef Restaurant - If you like seafood - this is great! We hit this one every few years. We love to watch the fish while we wait for our food. The food is always fresh and the service is great!

Biergarten - we go every time. I like the giant beers. I always have a group big enough to fill a whole table. I don't like the food much, but I am not a fan of german food. My kids tell me that I went gaga over the cheesecake the last two times I visited. But, for the life of me, I can't remember it. It must be because of the giant beers - they are really big.

Sci-Fi - I like the cars and the drive-in.

Coral Reef - I think their New York Strip is great. Lobster soup excellent. All the desserts are phenomenal. I enjoy the aquarium.

Tonys - my wife will not let us go there. Rude host problems.

Grand Floridian Cafe - one of top breakfasts, has a great lunch, and my most favorite dessert - the chocolate crust key lime pie. I am a huge fan of the Grand Floridian Cafe.

As a party of 3 including 7yr old DD, I can give you my opinions on the first 2 choices only.

At Biergarten, when we took my in-laws and were group of 7 we got our own table and loved it. We had a great waitress named Jenny who made sure we never had dirty dishes or empty glasses. When we went again 2yrs later as a group of 3, we were seated with another family. They weren't very polite especially since we were seated on the outside of the table and they were inside near the wall of the walkway. Our server wasn't as willing to clear plates or fill glasses. We weren't sure if it was us or the other family. We probably won't be going back as a first choice. The food was good but we aren't as willing to be seated with other families and receive poor service. It is one thing to be treated poorly if it my own child who is acting up but this other family was all adults (drinking the giant mugs of beer).

At Sci-Fi, we have also had mixed service. My DH & I always ate there on visits before we had DD and loved it. Then we had a year of the s-l-o-w-e-s-t server on the entire planet and complained about the cold food with no changes to the bill. We didn't even ask for anything out of the ordinary and the food came to the table stone cold, the drink glasses stayed empty most of the meal, etc. We then went back during another trip, had okay service but were told the blinking ice cube they talked up to DD was "free" but was on the bill for at least $6. Have read some reviews about only going for appetizers or milkshakes and am considering going back.

So as you can see, it depends on each person and what you are willing to possibly deal with. Although my DH and I are fans of other restaurants that have been reviewed poorly on these boards.

My advice... try them at least once, you can always choose to not eat there next trip.:)

1) Biergarten- Epcot >> some meats are strange. But I found a few delish items that i couldnt get enough of. The entertainment is great, and i love sharing tables with strangers! it was fun and not at all weird or uncomfortable.

2) Sci Fi Theater- Hollywood Studios >>>Very fun place. Great atmosphere!!! They just came out with a new menu!!! its awesome! So many burger varieties now (their speciality). Check out the menu on the disney website.

3) Grand Floridian Cafe- >>>Never been! heard good things about it thou. Gorgeous resort thou.

4) Tony's Town Square (Keep in mind that I'm from NY and consider Olive Garden to be fast-food pseudo-Italian, not real food). >>>>AWFUL AWFUL FOOD!!! Gross, never again. I tried my son's meat ball and couldnt swallow it. Nasty. My chicken parm was gross too. i think their tomoto sauce killed all the dishes. From what i've heard from others, Ppl who ordered the steak and calamari seemed to like their meals thou. Lol! I'd stay far away from this place, esp if you dont like olive garden.

5) Coral Reef Restaurant

:goodvibes

1) Biergarten - Never been. Communal seating and buffets are not my thing.

2) Sci Fi Theater - The food isn't special, but the atmosphere is.

3) Grand Floridian Café - I love everything I've had there. I've never been for dinner but breakfast and lunch are both great.

4) Tony's Town Square - I would change this reservation because you're going to be disappointed. There's no reason for a New Yorker to seek Italian food anywhere in Disney World, but Tony's is one of the worst. It's not like you're missing any great Lady and the Trap tie-ins, either.

5) Coral Reef - One of my favorites for both lunch and dinner. I've only ever ordered seafood there, so my review may not be helpful if anyone in your party doesn't care for fish. I've had a different dish every time I've gone and have never been disappointed.

Thanks to everyone for their responses- quite helpful.

So now, after some tweaking, this is where I'm at, just 3 weeks out:

Day 1- Pirates and Pals- Staying at WL, probably QS there.
Day 2- Biergarten
Day 3- Sci Fi
Day 4- Hoop te Do- Tier 3 seating
Day 5- Tony's Town Square but I need some recommendations on what a good alternate choice would be
Day 6- Whispering Canyon
Day 7- Open- Halloween Party

Other than Day 5, I think we're pretty much set. The big questions now of course,
1) Best QS @ Epcot?
2) Best QS @ Sci Fi? We ate at Pizza Planet previously and had to wait 40 mins in line for Boboli Crap pizza- never again!
3) Best QS @ MK?
4) Does Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon offer a better QS? We are planning to split both parks in the same day.

Thanks again for your tips guys! They are truly invaluable!

If you want to keep a table-service meal inside the Magic Kingdom on day five, I guess I'd recommend the Liberty Tree Tavern. If you don't mind leaving the park, I'd recommend either the Grand Floridian Café or the Kona Café.

That's a good point about leaving the property for a bit, which is something I'm not averse to doing. Do you feel as though the restaurants in the MK are almost "second rate" to those you might find @ GF or Poly?

Yes, completely.

All of you folks inspired me to look elsewhere on the day when we had picked Tony's @ MK. I tried to see if 'Ohana was available- nada! Sounds like such a great place I'm disappointed that we didn't look at it earlier! Any other recommendations that are nearby and worth considering?
